  1. Re:yum! on Court Orders Owner Of Peta.org To Give Up Domain · · Score: 1

    Ok I am confused.

the "organization that attempts to force its moral values on others" is that the slashdot BBQ or the PETA.

Cause now the BBQ is starting to sound a lot like that...

Don't get me wrong I like BBQ's, and I have NO respect for animal rights nutbars or plant eaters in general.... but lately these posts have taken a veggie bashing turn.... Making us as bad as the PETA...

    DOH

All old when the first PC came along.

(And to be honest I doubt it) I doubt Online venders will ever trust one another enough to trade inforamtion on customers (Amazon.com & Chapters.ca both sell books and movies so trading inforamtion is basicly tradeing a customer list...Not likely to happen when they are both losing money.)

I would not be suprised tho if some of the existing credit rating services move online. (Anybody looking to get rich in B2B there ya are)

I have never heard of a record company losing millions on a new artist, what I have heard of is record companys who advance the money for recording, videos, promotion, Concerts and such, and then take the money out of the future earning of the record. If you want examples check out the Clash and TLC.

I used to get pissed of @ comments like this until I realized that in the states people who live in the Suburbs tend to have cleaner air, less crime, live longer, are better educated, have better health care, etc. So I can understand why an American would feel that way.

  14. Save the Net? on The Internet-Have We Reached A Turning Point? · · Score: 1

there are a couple of problems with total control thing

    1) there are other countries, with different laws & consitutions. What is illegal in the states may not be illegal in Canada, or Switzerland or Cuba (note those last two)

    2) Certain nations will have a vested interest in being the place where there is no censorship or taxes. Nobody has ever made Swizerland or the Grand Cayman Islands change thier banking laws.

    3) this field tradionaly outstrips the laws attempting to govern it. Mostly becuase the prosses to detect a need, write a law, and enforce it, find out if the law is legal, appeal etc takes years. If any body doubts this check out the RCMP trying to bust US satalite dish owners in Canada, it has been going on for years & the first case has not hit the courts yet.

    4) NO and I mean NO system does not exist that cannot be hacked. You set it up, somebody is going to bypass it or bring it down or just plain ignore it.

SO....How many of the parts of YOUR computer come from union or worker owned factories....Or even get paid a couple dollers a day.

Isn't interesting how so many of computer parts come from "the third world".

And IF you DO boycott them so they don't get any money how are they going to survive...and that leads to the situations that puts people like Hitler & Stalin in charge.

So no I do not belive in boycotts unless there is a viable alternitve...

  17. Dead Music!?!? on The Dark Side Of Napster · · Score: 1

So Ska, Reggae, Acid Jazz, are done only by white People?

    Really.

I don't like techno/dance/garage mostly because I can't dance, and have no real knowledge of what is going on in that style of music.

So let me get this right....You think Punk and other non-popular musical styles are dead. AND you think that Reggae, Ska & Jazz are done ONLY by white people. (Dead White people no doubt!).
Shure...I'll buy that, but first you scoot down to Jamaica with a couple of cans of Bleach...Let me know what happens eh?.
