1. Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. It's possible to set it up the way that she will never know you replaced it. 2. Free antivirus solution (free for personal use just as AntiVir Guard) running in the background. 3. SpyBot for spyware scheduled to run 4. Skype for communication so you don't have to go to her house:) H.
I have a hint for you: just go to en.wikipedia.org The geekness of this encyclopaedia is beyond me! There is always more information on the last "Lost" episode or any Mario game than on some XIX century poet I was searching for the other day. It's because it's voluntarily edited and... basicaly contributors are able to write about topics that interest them. But, seriously. If you enter the fictional technology name, or the novel / movie title, you're most likely to find what you want. Of course there are other wikis or pseudo wikis, sometimes quite big but usually they are limited to one fictional universe (Star Wars, Star Trek, X-Men etc)
Apparently some of the US (ultrasound examination) devices have the possibility to record on CDR. We (my wife and I) were asked if we have the CDR (I happened to have one!) and then asked what format do we want. I was shocked:) I brought VHS too, they probably could record on it too, but I prefered to have JPGs and MPEG of our babies (twins, ladies and gentlemen!).
The ugly truth is that Blizzard guy is right. The copy of WOW is not some kind of "account generator" that you can you repeatedly to create new accounts. They want the number of sold copies to be equal (or greater than) with number of accounts and I understand their reasoning!
I can't think of any other game off hand that has an adaptive ai that would count as learning, at least not one beyond "he's done that move three times, bet he does it again".
You are right, it's not going to happen anytime soon. Adaptive algorithms are known - they are used among others in OCR but they are not widely used in games. As far as I remember, some of the chess programs (Chessmaster? I'm not sure) used played games as a library of moves for analysis. But this probably counts for "he's done that move again".
Most of games' enemies are just reacting to the behaviour of the player, they are not analysing the behaviour. But do we really need it? Would you like to play the game that is getting impossible to win if you are too good? I prefer the "learning curve" - when new enemy appears (in FPS of RTS games) I try to find the weak spots and behaviour patterns of the new guy and then use it against him. After that, I like it to be predictable, in fact!
Aren't you guys messing the adaptive difficulty level with adaptive AI. Adaptive AI should learn, not simply adapting number or speed of enemies to the lameness of player.
Damn, you're right! I need to learn:-) Here is the clear comparison of various RedHat options. It seems you're getting binaries only for 349 with no dedicated tech support.
You have to understand that it's not software that you pay for in RedHat Enterprise Server.
Re-compiling it or re-packaging does not bring the added value you get for that 349 USD or so. This added value is the technical support - and that's a basic idea behind earning money on GPL-ed software. So it's not only RedHat logo what you are missing from whiteboxlinux.org.
But it's perfectly fair, in my opinion. You have money - you buy support and knowledge. But if you have the knowledge - you can use the software and not pay for it - you invest your time and skills. That's the power of open software - you're not getting money for the code but for the knowledge.
It's somewhat opposite than in modern hollywood movies. Most of them have the complicated plot but only paper characters with no background and being hard to identify with.
Better do not give everything you can - set a lower level, just like 500$/person. Why? Because when (if) next year your company will have worse results - and people will get less for xmas bonuses - they will be disapointed. So better give 500 and save the rest for the next year xmas party:-) By the way, are you hiring?:-)
iTunes is only used by people with waaaay too much money, the same people who would even pay for a Mac.
So what? Aren't they the best customers? We are talking about selling, man. It's always better to sell to people with too much money than to those with not enough.
Thanks for bringing the url to Dead Media Project again. It was quite a fun some time ago to browse it and read about telex and such things. Unfortunately it was not updated for quite a long time. Dead Media Project a dead medium?:-)

What you point to is the remote desktop client.
Oh come on... Isn't the resolution actually higher than that of our eyes?

* Available with Standard Edition support.
And what is "SE support"? Quoted from http://www.redhat.com/software/rhel/features/
So what you're paying is one year of full tech support.

God, I'm playing always in the night... I would have darkness everywhere :)

It's simple, just http://www.donniedarko.com/
But go there after seeing the movie, otherwise you will not understand much from the website.
And Bruce Sterling is THIS Bruce Sterling too.
It's a pity the project is not updated for a long time.
