It's called a marketing technique. Before you offically release your product you sell lots of it to some company for release with their new product. One then enters into an agreement with the company.

Now if apple can just get one more feature in one application to be faster than a pc... they... well.. will still be lightyears behind. But hey! more cheap ass marketing for them!

"I just bought this new Dual G4, I can bring up help dialog boxes like never before. wow"

That really is a problem. That's like the only time apple is faster than a pc. In like one, MAYBE two applications. PC's are 1/2 or 1/3 or less the cost and can do just oh so much more.

Lets assume you've been living under a rock. Now lets take a look at some basic math/counting. First there was the GeForce card. It was good.

GeForce 2 was the next, it was better.

Still counting in a normal manner, GeForce 3 came next. Improving more still.

Now, if you ever played those "complete the pattern" or "what comes next" games in preschool... one would say the next logical step would be ... GeForce 4. Which, unless they are going backwards, should be even better still.

This concluded our lesson for today. Oh, and class. Matrox G550 has the best performance in Windows, not top notch 3d performance tho.

I doubt it will come close to a real pc in performance. Apple spends most of their time making things look pretty and keeping other people out, than actually making a decent product.

It's a wonder they are still in business sometimes. Granted they had some breakthrough technology back when the Apple IIe came out... but since then it's pretty much just been a downward spiral. Apple sucks. PC's can do all an apple can... cheaper, faster, better, more.

I got burned too. There needs to be more buyer security. I haven't bought anything from ebay since, and I won't till something can be done to improve the security for both buyer and seller. Moreso the buyer.

Your in the stealing/illegal frame of mind anyway. Plus, mp3's work just fine. There are many many diffrent bitrates you can encode in that give better quality than the standard 128bit. Shut up and use mp3. It'll save you time and trading is a ton easier. I don't know anyone that actually uses one of those other encoders for all their songs. MP3's are quick and WIDELY supported. There's not much of a loss, there will be some with no matter what you use. Just use mp3 and shut up.

If it continued to run like that I would be running something like a 786 right now. And it would also be nice to have a + or - next to it. The - being like a celeron chip and the + representing a regular chip. None of this athlon, celeron, willamette(sp), duron, P4, Xeon crap. Unless you do research and understand the diffrences, it's just confusing as all hell. I think that's exactly what they are trying to do.

On another note. AMD is useing the non-mhz rating system. Yet the 1300+ sure seems close/confusing to a 1300mhz chip. Why not make it an Athlon 5+ or a 5634652346+? Why have it almost exactly where all the mhz ratings are falling into place? To confuse people. Also... AMD sucks. I will never own that crap. Thank you.

To Smoothwall people if they are reading: Great product, works nicely and is pretty easy. I see and pretty much agree with the point that it's a -firewall- nothing more. But(as always)... even tho this guy did not have a very nice attitude, it was very unprofessional for the responces given. I know I know, you've heard that. Lets look at why I repeated it though. Lets say I have a strong influence in a decision that is coming up about security for a large network. I see SW, it's nice, quick, easy, robust, secure, simple, small, cost effective... but... I also see all this arguing. What's with that? I'm really gunna think twice about giving money to people that act like that. If I need to pitch this to a boss, they want to know what happens when something goes wrong and we need to contact someone. Lets also suppose that I am going to be honest to him and tell him about the arguments over some simple things. He'll most likely look at me and ask who's next, not give a second thought to SW. ..... Something to ponder.

To the guy that "started" all this when he went in irc. You do have a decent idea that it would be nice to have some more things that -could- compete with SuSe and others. That's nice, they didn't like it, drop it. It's really not fun spending so much time on something, getting so little in return and getting people also complaining that it's not good enough. Yes, with some work.. again it could be quite a contender. But that's not what they want and that's fine. Do not deny that you pushed to. You most certianly could have dropped it and let it go, you -did- push too. Legal action? Reporting to hosting, email server, isp? Again, how old are you? That's something I've not seen since I used to go on irc and everyone was under 15. OH no, stop the world. Someone said something that didn't make me feel special!!!#$@#%^#$%
