Or, download Ref Update so that you can update it by just hitting one button.

I think they should have to go through a trial and error just like everyone else does. It's not fair they get the extra edge on people. I mean animated banner ads are bad enough, thankfully with IE you can hit the stop button and actually STOP animated gifs on webpages.

I used to think that the whole Flash Animation thing was awesome, I see it used for nothing but ad's anymore. Noone seems to make much use out of it besides for making really annoying ad's.

The ad companies have so many steps above us, flashing banners, onload sound files that advertise, junk email, popup windows, popunder windows, pop offscreen windows.

So maybe they only make $50 million from putting an ad on Site A when they could have made $60 million if they put it on Site B. THEY STILL MADE $50 MILLLION!! ... for example. Point is they are not stupid people, they are going to make money either way. They may not care if the annoy and piss off almost everyone that see's their ad's that riddle the internet and highways and general LIFE overall... they should have to go through the trial and error just like everyone else.

Maybe if they actually were advertising something that was made well and not a hunk of junk, they might actually sell it. There's a lot to be said for products that sell themselves. Who, besides perverts, needs an X10 camera that is so "small and usefull"? No one. But they sure are selling it every where you look.

Yea, life's not fair right? So what else is new.

Limewire this, bearshare that, kazaa that too, even napster. I've seen them all and they all suck. WinMX has no spyware. No banners. No popups. FREE. It's got a great layout and tons of people on it with awesome connections.

Every pc should be scanned with Ad-Aware. But make sure you get the latest REF file for it or you'll be scanning for OLD spy/adware. New spyware comes out all the time, you need to keep it upto date. Just like your antivirus program.

Imagine having the ability to download and get music just like you used to be able to with Napster. Like you can do now with winMX and others. But also imagine having the abilty to have a choice right there IN the program to donate some money to the artist. Screw the record companies and labels. I'm talking direct money to them. No middle man crap.

Imagine just being able to donate a dollar or two if you think the mp3 is great. Notice I said donate not subscribe. With the exact same abilty as you do and do not have right now to download songs, just add the abilty to donate DIRECTLY to the artist.

Now that would be cool. Maybe someone like PayPal and winMX could work something out. But this subscription service crap is for the birds and lamers. I won't even go near it.

The software industry says it loses an estimated $12 billion per year due to piracy.

Is that assuming that every copy would be a lost purchase? I sure hope they aren't taking that assumption. I know that even if I HAD to buy all my software... I might have Windows 95 still... some of the free chat programs... and that's about it. Software is WAY too over priced to actually BUY everything most people use.

I really think that the computer industy would be set BACK a few years if some people didn't have the ability to get software and try it out and help others and learn.

For example: Imagine you don't know much about computers (I dare ya!)... you also have a geek friend that has all the new software. He's upto date on all the new stuff and has used it all. You would feel much more safe and happy knowing you can go buy your new Windows and he's already got experiance working with it. He can help. But if he had to buy all his software, he might be back a couple versions just like you. Not much help he would be.

LOWER THE DAMN PRICES!!!! Then maybe I'll go buy something. Or just continue to make it semi-easy for people to KeyGen and Crack the software so we can help the people that actaully buy the crap.

Also, hard drive sizes would probably be half or one quarter what they are today. The demand would not be there if not for all the movies, mp3's, apps, games, pr0n.

Western Digital and Maxtor thank the KeyGen's and Crackers and Rippers.

If they just want to bog down a system they could make a very small virus that is just something of a simple script that searches the drive for the first, say, 5 .vxd files and appends them into the first .txt file it finds. It could probably be less than 5k and would almost definalty cause some decent slow down.

Pitty the children will have to work on that. To be brought up and learn something that is not very useful. I don't think it's fair to the children to set them back in technology. The purpose of school is to help them learn, not to cripple them mentally.

I also agree with the many posts that I saw about how useless this equipment will be in a very short amount of time. Laptops, I think, should not be used for education. More and better applications are always coming out and the hardware needs to be able to be upgraded. Laptop's are much more limited. Add that with the fact that it's an apple machine and there's 2 strikes against you.

I used apple computers when I was in school. I've worked on them now that I'm older. I still choose a pc/windows over apple anyday. I think apple's one assest used to be it's graphics capabilites. PC's, I think, have caught and surpased the apple computer.
