Now you can claim that the imperial measurement system itself is by and large outdated, but it is still in use here in the US, and this is a US based webpage. So if you dont mind, we would prefer keeping the words that are in common usage here in the states.

Yes, there are plenty of republicans who feel the government should only do two things, kill brown people, and keep them out of the country.

There are sane people, but for some reason many of them refuse to take a stand against the bat shit crazies. The crazies on the far right (including teabaggers) wont be happy until every single piece of the government is chopped up and sold off piece meal to a for profit corp that will require a profit margin to do the same job that the government did without the profit margin.

That what I never understood about "fiscal conservatives" how can we save money if we have a new cost, namely profit margin. Until I hear a reasonable answer anyone who wants to offload government duties to a corporation will be just plain stupid in my book.

Ive never been a cop, but I did serve in the military.

You never point your weapon at someone unless you fully intend to use it. A swat team for any internet based crime is too much. This wasn't a drug lords house, it wasn't a weapon smugglers house. There is absolutely no reason to throw people to the ground with a multitude of weapons pointed at them for mere suspicion of a internet based crime.

Perhaps the cops should remember that they way they act at all times is what the citizens see of their police force. Acting in what appears to be a reckless and heavy handed way does not encourage the populace to back the police. You can see that now as the police have tarnished their own reputation with alot of the needless violence that they themselves propagate. (I dont feel I need sources here because it seems that you can find new cases of police brutality on video daily).

When my unit did searches in Iraq it was cordon and knock. We knocked on the door, told them why we were there, gave the place a through search, sometimes we were even served tea by the locals. Keep in mind this was the military, we could have easily kicked in the door, threw people to the ground and yelled at them. We would not have been nearly as successful.

    Liar.

Here is a paper from 15 years ago from the University of New South Wales.

The above summary shows that energy payback times for modules incorporating thick silicon cells are, at worst, of the order of six to seven years and possibly less than three years. Since warranty periods of 20 years are routinely offered on such modules[ ] it is clear that the embodied energy should be easily recovered.

I'm willing to bet the efficiency has increased.

    http://www.csudh.edu/oliver/smt310-handouts/solarpan/pvpayback.htm

    Heres another source: (pdf warning)

Energy payback estimates for rooftop PV systems are 4, 3, 2,
and 1 years: 4 years for systems using current multicrystalline-
silicon PV modules, 3 years for current thin-film modules,
2 years for anticipated multicrystalline modules, and
1 year for anticipated thin-film modules (see Figure 1).
With energy paybacks of 1 to 4 years and assumed life
expectancies of 30 years, 87% to 97% of the energy that
PV systems generate won’t be plagued by pollution, greenhouse
    gases, and depletion of resources.

In short you are a liar in at least the solar panel area.

Someone gaining root access has the potential to access ALL information. Therefore someone breaking into a bank could take everything.

So the modified analogy would go like this:
If a thief could take everything from the place he breaks into would he break into my apartment, or into a bank?

I'm going to guess he'll break into the bank.

So.. to wrap it up, as I see it the robber would much rather make off with 10,000 peoples assets then 1 persons. Which makes the bank a much bigger target.
