    Sice "4320p" should presumably refer to vertical resolution...

    That is precisely what I said. But the industry now uses "4K" to measure horizontal resolution. I simply asked why, and the AC came through.

    Yes, p is for progressive, but nothing to do with height. It is opposed to "i" for interlaced, like analog TV. Both numbers are the pixels. Anyway, it turns out the whole thing was taken over by film people.

    4k is just a buzzword.

    It sure is. It should be 2K or 2160p, whatever. Real 4K (4320p) is their 8K(16xHD!), and I believe there's a couple of those out, so "4K" will be obsolete very soon. Why did we let them switch over to horizontal resolution?

    Depends on what part of the brain, but the brain is responsible for behavior. Any change in behavior is a result of physiological change in the brain. You'll see it in an MRI. There's no chicken/egg thing here. The brain does it all, and then tries to deny it :-)

    I can whitelist the inbox. Only my contacts get in. So this way I can take care of old business first before moving on to new business (next quarter?). Google needs this option very badly. Then I can drop Hotmail, but really I don't need to. They're no worse than anybody else.

    Nonsense. With the right "investments" with the owners of the patent/copyright, it would look great in the portfolio. They don't give a damn about standards. All the costs will be passed on. And let's not forget that microsoft is also collecting rent from some linux/android distributors. Clearly there's a big poker match going on in that smoke filled room. If anything, this looks like an agreement was made with microsoft, precisely to lock the removable drive into their filesystem.

    This is, and has always been, perfectly normal procedure in the intercourse between government and business. Business needs a way to enforce its contracts, so they create a "state", with uniforms and badges, and big ass guns. And they use "philosophers" (advertisers) to pitch the whole thing. What is the problem?

    Just make sure that receipt is already on the dash when you get stopped. Reaching to take it out of the glove compartment or your pocket could get you shot. Things get very touchy when enforcing a warrant.
