Yes, on the internet you have no privacy. Regardless, the authorities broke the law. Too bad she was compelled to settle. They should lose their jobs and be hung out to dry.
By creating an account on facebook did she not enter into an agreement as a minor?
As a minor, the agreement is null and void.
What's going on here? Are you trying to justify what they did?
...I believe that a lottery would be far superior to the current system...
Exactly the system I have advocated, along with conscription to serve, like a military draft. Only with a random system can we ensure there is no careerism, with all the resulting corruption. It is supposed to be a public service. In and out, nobody gets hurt. Judging who is "qualified" should be simple, anyone over 18 or 21, or 25 if you want to use the car rental standard. We don't want people deciding who is qualified beyond that, and we really shouldn't want anybody who wants the job. Those kinds of people are a big part of the problem.
Honestly do editors even try to read these submissions?
No, they pick popular headlines and post them. This is an advertising site now. If you don't believe me, look at what has happened to the journal section. Spam ratio is over 500 to 1.

In today's world it's a very rewarding trait. The sociopaths are top dogs. Somebody needs to teach how to resist "charisma".
Because the owners aren't the creators. Besides, the whole system is BS, as many inventors have been out-lawyered and lost everything. It's time to throw the whole thing out and start fresh. Yes, the WHOLE thing!
If a sufficiently automatic system is able to bring to prices down to almost zero, it will be because machines will build the plant. And in answer to the person that replied to you, all extraction, delivery, and refinement will be automated also. We don't need humans where tunnel boring machines can do the job. Replicators of a sort can become reality. It will happen much faster once we can get the politics and greed out of the picture. That part will probably only happen on an evolutionary time scale. And of course evolution might not take us that direction at all, but I would like to see the effort being made.
Yeah, but tearing down the borders within Europe is definitely a good thing. If only NAFTA was that straightforward, but it's even more oriented for the benefit of big business only, with no benefit to the citizens of that continent at all.
Third parties will never make it nationallly until they start taking it locally.
I believe that is true. And on top of that, we should vote based on word of mouth and the person's record, not glitzy advertising. The power is in our hands to make it happen. Until we do, expect more of the exact same old crap indefinitely.
Unfortunately, the third party candidates never get any national coverage, so get very few votes.
They get very few votes because people are too lazy to look beyond the TV for information. Besides, most people will stick with the devil they know regardless. A simple youtube video could have the same clout as the big networks if not for that. If you want to take the money out of politics, you have to vote for people with no money. Then the whole idea of campaign financing and all its corruption will become moot. Any third party candidate drawing from the same trough as the big boys is just as worthless and will invariably be just as crooked. The tea party is a perfect case in point.
They should help provide information and methods of circumvention to help ensure that no state can block them. Going through the courts is just workfare for the lawyers.
Well, for one thing, all that stuff is a real pain to schlep around when you move. For me streaming just works. If they want to make it difficult, bittorrent saves the day.
Once again, I say we should determine prices by the human effort required to make a product. Once it becomes automated the price should be damn near zero.
So where is the CO2 coming from? And the coal plants are still running whether I use an electric car or not, so the net total is still higher with gasoline.
Yeah well, we're always hearing former presidents and staff members speaking up, and it's bullshit. They should DO something about it while they have the power. "Deathbed" confessions are bogus. I can hardly wait to hear Obama's "apologies" thirty or forty years from now, or sooner if he has a book coming out. Screw these people.
On the other hand, Carter was probably the "least bad" president in the last fifty years. But basically he served only as a placeholder until the Nixon thing blew over and Reagan could step in.

All these things are necessary for National Security... You're either with us, or against us..

Why are patents transferable in this fashion? If the owner goes bankrupt or dies, all that stuff should become public domain.

Why should libel be considered "protected political speech".
Because the charge of libel/slander is pure bullshit, whether it's political or not.

Streaming should be an OPTION. DVD's should be an OPTION..
And torrents should be an option. I like that one best, because it is out of their control, for now.
What's wrong with "permanent" and "just works"?
Well, for one thing, all that stuff is a real pain to schlep around when you move. For me streaming just works. If they want to make it difficult, bittorrent saves the day.
They're trying to increase torrent traffic. Whenever things get too complicated just open up your bittorrent client and problem solved.
Yes, the pen is mightier than the sword. Or so they say.
Violent criminals aren't deterred by the threat of "protecting society", they're deterred by the threat of being locked up.
What, you think your grandma would be a violent criminal if not for the prison system?
Yes, and how do you trust your "visitors"?
You never know when Google is going to pull the plug. You have been warned.
No, it has never been tried. We haven't sufficient automation until recently. Go take a history class.
Once again, I say we should determine prices by the human effort required to make a product. Once it becomes automated the price should be damn near zero.
