"People have not used children to hijack planes before"
People have not used children to hijack planes, yet. These are not moral, upstanding people. These are scuzbucket assholes who have no moral compass and fuck-all respect for our beliefs, freedoms, traditions, you name it.
I'm willing to give up a little freedom to gain a little security. For example, if you have a bat infestation in your house and they were in your bedroom you have a very small chance of being bitten and not noticing it. Do you forgo the rabies shot and chance it? Or, do you get the rabies shot as an alternative to dieing a horribly painful death.
You get the rabies shot. TSA = shitty rabies shot.
Beware the beast Man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him; drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death.
Truly this is the beginning of the end... Damn Dirty Apes
But then you deal with the "I am my brain" complex. Is this machine now human, will the body still die but the brian live on? Personally, I feel that as long as one part of me is flesh I am human and alive.
The minute I become completely machine, who I was is lost. As much as I would love to have most of me replaced/enhanced by machines, I still feel that my brain must be left intact for me to be who I am.
They're very expensive, but for Enterprise scale workloads they're cheaper than the comparable distributed system. The cost entirely depends on how many cores you're running, and more importantly your monthly usage. IBM bills you for your Iron depending on an average of how much you used it that month. There's a reason why Mainframes run so quick and fast, they're the only system where all processing from user ISPF interaction all the way to data processing is tracked. All that processing turns into your final bill with IBM, so upper management has a tendency to pay close attention to usage unlike other systems... But thankfully IBM lets them out on a monthly installment plan. They're kinda like QVC like that...
Hail to our cell phone mutated Blackberry Overlords!
We can only hope that they do not develop the ability to integrate their Blackberry devices into their personal beings. Their productivity and ability to stay "plugged in" at all times will fuel another 80's style boom, we'll see the resurfacing of large furry boots, bright color shirts, men in "skinny jeans", popped collars, & a small but ferverous following singing Rick Astley's "Never gonna give you up".
We are so screwed.
It would be really good if somebody could explain why this is useful. It sounds like it could be, but, an explanation of practical application would be awesome. =)
I work at a huge credit card company, they allow all of us programmers to listen to music. They actually encourage it, there's no way we could drown out all the other noise of the cubicle farm. They gave us Microsoft Communicator so we could still communicate while we had headphones on. I would probably quit if I couldn't listen to music to drown out all the shit in the background.
It would be a welcome change!

But, is the galaxy traveling at the far edge of space traveling at the same speed as us. Has it slowed down?
