Neutron bombs are a special type of nuclear weapon. Their detonation causes a massive expulsion of neutron particles (duh) in the blast radius. The sheer amount and velocity of the particles SHREDS any organic matter. Basically, it kills all the people and leaves the infrastructure. Very vile, and at the same time, would undoubtedly be part of China's first wave of attacks. They'd need power points in their invasion area, and this would be an easy way to get those.
Amtrack recently started their new Acela service from DC to Boston. It doesn't go 200 MPH, but it's certainly fast, I think the trip takes 4-6 hours, I forget how long exactly.
There were riots again? Sheesh. When I was there two years ago over summer semester, they had a MASSIVE riot following that. Happened on my birthday of all days. Ripping out light poles, bonfires on Beaver Ave., etc etc. Rather insane.
I can confirm that. My dad works in the state government here, and he gets news about new laws and such EXTREMELY fast. Unfortunately I don't have any links available for you:\
I REALLY hope that Turner decides to put Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz on after this run of Gundam Wing. I just finished up watching the end of the series (last 3 episodes), and uh...........WOW. I love it! Annoys me that all of the DVDs won't be out until the end of 2001, but I can live. I highly reccomend this series:)
Heh, compared to some companies out there, MS is like the bloody Federation when it comes to Borg-ising companies. Take Computer Associates for example. I don't think they made a single piece of software they sell. They bought ArcServe, UniCenter, Ingres, Neugents (I think) and so on.
They're not alone either. Check out some Compaq ads for NonStop. They're pimping that stuff like they sacrificed their firstborn to make it! (and they bought Tandem to get it). IBM bought Lotus, who in and of themselves bought half of the products they were retailing (cc:Mail is probably the most notable one). Demonizing only MS for buying stuff up is rather unfair if you ask me.
I picked up Gundam Wing Op1 early June. It is QUITE nice (and now I'm gonna buy Gundam 0083 cause of the trailer). What drives me batshit is that at the current rate Bandai/Sunrise is releasing the Gundam Wing DVDs, the entire series won't be out on DVD until late 2001. MAJOR SUCK.
A single T1 between ALL of the 20ish campuses? I really don't think so. Now a single T1 up at University Park yeah, I can see that (and it's absurd). When I was there 2 years ago (with 40,000 other people) they had a good amount of OC-3 lines in, plus an OC-3 connect to vBNS. The net was never slow for me ^^
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing - Cartoon Network has this on currently. VERY VERY good. Very deep plot, and has a lot of action.
Dominion: Tank Police - The first two parts of this are EXCELLENT. The second two are kinda wacky, but the second of these two has one of the best battle scenes I've seen in a while.
Casshan, Robot Hunter - And you thought Mega Man was a badass!
Project A-Ko - Very funny, with lots of action. The poster above who mentioned this is right, it pokes fun at a lot of cliches.
Demon City Shinjuku - Another good one. Pretty violent.
Lily C.A.T. - VERY violent. Great one though. Reminds me of Alien/Aliens for some reason.
Lensman - This was the first anime I had ever seen. I forget the details on it, but I do remember liking it a lot.
In my short time at college, i took a C++ course, and we used that Dietel & Dietel book for it. EXCELLENT book. It teaches stuff very well, and it even goes into STL, basic search algorithms, and other useful things.
I dunno if this would be very feasible, but what about lasers or other optical means for transferring data down the segments? That would make detachable sections a lot easier, I think.
A great troll!. It sucks you in with a good intro, and keeps you there with things that are actually TRUE. Then BAM! The troll side hits you like a ton of bricks.
This kind of thing makes my work day a lot more fun:)
GAH! I cannot sit idly by and let someone sully the name of Blue Thunder! Everyone knows BT had a pimped out MP3 playing deck (running on an Alpha I imagine), that ran Geiss on the HUD. Furthermore, it was controlled by brain impulses! No silliness with voice recognition (and the cockpit in a helicopter is sort of loud for that kind of thing). Only problem with that is if Roy Sheider started thinking about some chick whose bones he wanted to jump, I bet the soundtrack to Debbie Does Dallas started playing.... (Sorry but I couldn't help myself. Blue Thunder was a cool movie:)
Nitpicking, but Skinner says "Radio Man" :)
Yeah the US has them. Where do you think the Chinese stole the plans from?
Metal Gear Solid should be out on the PC in September. It comes with all of the VR Missions as well. Good enough? :)

Ah yes, You Only Live Twice. You got the character's name right as well.

The last PC Magazine I read (the latest issue) had a full page color Penguin Computing ad.

I listen to Metallica. I listen to Dr. Dre. I've been using napster since it was in early 1.0 versions. Thx info?

Noncomedogenic - Is this even a word? It means it doesn't cause acne. *shrug*
Topic says it all really...

Just to nitpick, but more bandwidth won't do much at all for pings. Connections with better latency (Got SONET? (TM)) will.
My favorite line in the Eggdrop ./configure script
Checking OS...Ack! You are CURSED with IRIX!
"He said WHAT? That AC will pay for that comment, especially the 'purple monkey dishwasher' remark!"
Invoking Godwin's Law here....
*claps*
