yeh I worked for one of the top 5 consulting engineers in the world and we had one of our bridges fall off its supports:-) I helped prove it was the contractor (aka the navvies) that messed up not our design.
I think you'd want some one who could set up cvs or other source control system from scratch and not just blindly use some purty precaned solution - hmm should I get my good Friend D to suggest to Ed that I could be a useful member of this quango:-)
And probably asset strip it and load up the company with dodgy debt and other financial instruments so it can be flogged to some dozy fund mangers in a few years see the Debenhams group for an example of how this scam works
" engineering can be done from anywhere" oh so do you have full service and a large garage full of machine tools and other very expensive gear ? engineering is more than doing some crappy fart app for the iPhone
Apparently the no 2 engineer at martelsham (aka the UK's bell labs) wife was asked what her husband did and when she said hes an engineer - the comment was thats nice dear what sort of cars does he work on:-(

And deliberately doing work that needs to be redone might be a way of getting extra overtime - there is a lot of "Spanish" practices in construction.
I suspect that Bizzeh comes from a country with very dodgy labor laws - maybe the one with bonds and reliving letter/chitty :-)
I always tip in cash so that its harder for the employer to rip of the workers.

the UK used to have industry training Levys which helped pay for apprentice training - Mrs Thatcher abolished them

Its the UK - companies want some one else to pay for their training its been the same for the last 100 years.

not in the UK other professions eg lawyers and doctors earn far far more than an "engineer" does at the same level of experience
