yeh I worked for one of the top 5 consulting engineers in the world and we had one of our bridges fall off its supports:-) I helped prove it was the contractor (aka the navvies) that messed up not our design.
I think you'd want some one who could set up cvs or other source control system from scratch and not just blindly use some purty precaned solution - hmm should I get my good Friend D to suggest to Ed that I could be a useful member of this quango:-)
And probably asset strip it and load up the company with dodgy debt and other financial instruments so it can be flogged to some dozy fund mangers in a few years see the Debenhams group for an example of how this scam works

Apparently the no 2 engineer at martelsham (aka the UK's bell labs) wife was asked what her husband did and when she said hes an engineer - the comment was thats nice dear what sort of cars does he work on:-(

And deliberately doing work that needs to be redone might be a way of getting extra overtime - there is a lot of "Spanish" practices in construction.

not in the UK other professions eg lawyers and doctors earn far far more than an "engineer" does at the same level of experience
