  1. Desktop Linux in business on Desktop Linux Sliding in Under the Radar? · · Score: 1

I'm helping my daughter and son in law open a new business. They need web access for ordering. I am going to use Linux on the two computers that will be networked and I've decided on Quasar POS & accounting software. No windows! I really feel safer this way, especially using DSL.

That led to Quest and at least 30% more layoffs/fireings. ATT was a ripoff but the service was great. Quest is run as well as an airline and that should bankrupt it soon.

After reading most of the comments below I have to say it. If a rescue had been attempted, NASA would have needed guards to keep the Astronauts in line to apply for it. The military ones have a code of honor about not leaving anyone behind. The article stated that they would have been knocking down the doors to get the job, "and it's true". Men like John Young and Robert Crippen are still around. I met them both when the shuttle landed at White Sands, NM. I think it was the third suttle flight. The other problem is sending a shuttle up without an EVA suit, so the skin can be checked. Weight savings for experiments is important, but not at the cost of crew safety. A way to rescue a stranded crew would be a nice feature. But that might cost too much, so it has not happened.
