  1. Re:This is NOT right - Please DONATE to his fund on Adrian Lamo Pleads Guilty · · Score: 1

    Politically correct bullshit?

The main point of the parent post was that relatively harmless crimes (smoking pot) are punished more seriously that huge nasty crimes (destroying the pension plans of thousands of people).

How is complaining about that politically correct bullshit?

  2. It's just us we have to worry about on Extinctions Due to Global Warming Predicted · · Score: 1

I'd be surprised if we wiped out everything, but that's not really the major concern. Thinking in terms of purely human interest, mass extinction will be bad. Many of the first things appearing to approach extinction are the larger harvestable creatures ( fish, etc ). That's our food! That is bad.

Everyone has a god given right to defend themselves.

I believe the correct way to resolve that incident at the game convention should have been that everyone involved should have immediately drawn their own weapons and started firing. So much better if there were innocent children nearby, so they could see God's justice applied first hand. Assuming any of them survived.

Furthermore, the self defence rule should apply equally to nations, as well as people.

Therefore Australia should be allowed to have nuclear weapons. And so should Iran and Iraq. And China. And Indonesia.

    Because Jesus said they should.

Oh, and this is meant ironically you totally freaking insane Jesus-quoting gun-toting moron.

  4. Absolutely nothing: the article itself is proof on What's Wrong with the Open Source Community? · · Score: 1

There are a lot of criticisms here, and maybe some are valid. Great. Look at how keenly the open source community (that includes all of us slashdotters, in one way or another) embraces the discussion of its own weaknesses. Maybe we're sometimes sensitive about it. Great. It's because we ACTUALLY GIVE A DAMN!

More power to this self-critical community. We can handle criticism from anywhere, because no-one heaps it on higher than we do to ourselves.

    That rocks.

Maybe I'm just going mad, but:

"...much of Linux has been built from contributions by numerous unrelated and unknown software developers...Many Linux contributors were originally UNIX developers who had access to UNIX source code..."

Hang on. So these "unrelated and unknown" people "were originally UNIX developers". I thought they were all unrelated and unknown? WTF?
