Never ever have a cousin(-in-law) who is a resturaunt inspector.
I'm at the point, after hearing from him, that if I didn't kill the cow myself and convert it to a burger (mmmm....burger) then it's unhealthy.
Those playgrounds have come a long way from when I was a kid and I remember the local McD putting one in. It was a couple of the McD characters in various forms - a mayor mccheese you could climb up in, the fry guys that rocked back and forth on a spring and a couple other things. And I thought it was cool.
Yup. I've climed up in there and it is nasty, but oh well.
That is true though - with the first one everything was super steril. With the second one it was more along the lines of "If it's not green, it must be clean"

I agree. Though our dept's rule is when you reply, make sure that everyone who was CC'd on the original e-mail is kept in the reply.
This works great when someone does something like the above and is either completely wrong about something, knows not what they are talking about, etc...
The BOFH in me loves to be able to reply back with "This data is showing up wrong on the web because it is in the database wrong. I did some further tracking and found that the incorrect data is in this record that you entered on such-and-such date."
My daughter came down with something in her mouth once. She said "I found a red m&m and a blue m&m." She holds out her hand showing me the red m&m.
I was very disgusted. Then again, kids eat dirt and god knows what else. Yeah...it's disgusting to think about, but it probably won't kill them so it's best not to think about it to much.
ya know...kids don't need an eye on them 24x7. They can function on their own. Once they get to around 3 and become more social, they play in little groups and keep each other entertained.
Usually as long as there is no screaming (or no dead silence) they are having fun (actually, they think screaming is fun too)
Besides, parents talk to one another and their eyes are already not always on their kids.
True...but if you have a person from the target audience standing looking at both products, who both proclaim to let you pause live tv, etc... do you think they will notice the little * indicating to look at the small print saying some shows may not be recordable.
They will see that one is less than the other and doesn't require a monthly fee (guessing on that point) and that will settle their minds.
Now is the time for TiVo to get aggressive in how they market their box.
In there, they are talking about how in the early 80's, they saw that the intel processor, while not as powerful as the IBM, Sun and other processors, could be used to run Unix on, and basically claim that they provided Intel with a market for the chip - never mind the whole DOS thing going on.
They go one about how disorganized Linux is/was and that basically it could not have moved to where it is now without UNIX's help - gee...I didn't know that SCO could help organize a group of developers from around the world - powerful stuff that.
What's next? Without SCO, there would be no Internet? Perhaps SCO should claim that it laid birth to Apache and it should be named SCO/Apache...because we know that Apache could not have been created without the help of UNIX.
Now I need to go fix a leak in my roof and I hope that UNIX can come over and help me.
You know - IBM has had their corporate problems over the years, most of them seem to rotate around just how much middle management they should have.
But claiming that IBM lacks the expertise to do x is pretty ludicrous.
Yeah...I may be putting IBM a bit high on a pedastal here, but they are basically claiming that SCO is the only one who can make Linux perform on an x86.
You just explained it yourself. They have one pipe to the Internet (45Mbps?). However, their internal network is probabaly a 100Mbps with some gig segments. They are probably not using the internal network near full capacity, so if two students in the dorms trade the Two Towers, then for about 20 minutes there is a spike on that switch or chassis and that's about it.
Why do students always think just because they pay money that they are granted all sorts of rights?
You paid a portion of your fees to acceses the academic network for academic purposes. It is not the same as a home connection. Lack of choice does not mean that the only one you have must provide you everything you want.
There is no reason that the university even let you connect to the general internet. They could say that the dorm connection is for you to check e-mail and work on online classwork from the university's web site and that is all you can get to.
ISP's have say in how I can use my home connection. They say I can't run a server on THEIR network. Earthlink won't let you use an SMTP server outside THEIR network. So yeah...I guess the universities are like the ISP's in that it is THEIR network.
After saying all that - yeah, I think it sucks too.
1) I brought up a similar point a few years ago in trying to get several things working on there. The response I got on here was "In the next year or two all the other unixes will be dead and there will only be linux. accept it and move now"
2) The stuff I'm trying to get working on HP-UX is stuff that HP themselves have repackaged as software depots or part of the os. IP Filters works great. cifsclient/cifsserver works mostly okay. pam_smb just flat out doesn't work.
Just an FYI - that thing that feels good in the dark, that you two do together...that's what causes kids :)
:)
If you don't know what I'm talking about, check the UPS man
5 - WOW!
Same here...and I thought the current federal code about telemarketters made using a recorded message a no-no.

Reply with "since was included in the original conversation, to keep them filled in I have included them in this e-mail."
It depends on how annoying the person was that does this.
Yup. I've climed up in there and it is nasty, but oh well.

Usually stops the random cc's for a little bit.

Actually, I take my kids there on a Saturday morning from time to time so they can play.
I'm not worried too much about the food - neither of them eat enough to cause them much harm.
I'll spend an hour or two there talking to people or letting the kids play.
It's sad that McDonalds has better play equipment than the local parks.

Never understimate the power of a lower price over quality.
Q.E.D - Wal-mart
thnx...I tried playing it online and was having enough trouble getting off the earth...it's been about 18 years!!!
I'll rename her to Luthien and lock her up in there until she's about 21.

If you go to hell, you have to go transfer through Atlanta.
Of course, you may not know the difference
Ever seen a cel tower? Do you hae one of those on your base station? If not, there's your problem...look on e-bay :)
I'm waiting for someone to make a cordless phone based on FRS or something.
That's what I was thinking. I'm guessing that number 11 on the list is "It's hard to get a decent in-focus photo."
I just read (most of) the claims they make.
In there, they are talking about how in the early 80's, they saw that the intel processor, while not as powerful as the IBM, Sun and other processors, could be used to run Unix on, and basically claim that they provided Intel with a market for the chip - never mind the whole DOS thing going on.

I'd expect then to drink and get laid.

Two things:
1) I brought up a similar point a few years ago in trying to get several things working on there. The response I got on here was "In the next year or two all the other unixes will be dead and there will only be linux. accept it and move now"

All the flavor of Dr. Pepper, and all the healthy aspects of Milk.
Well...the CD is named "Broken".

What the hell do you want?
Next time, buy the remix version "Fixed".
