I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume english is not your first language.
The alternative explanation for your complete and utter inability to comprehend the parent post is that you are a down syndrome kid or maybe someone is holding a plastic bag over your head and you are having a hard time reading the type on your screen. If the latter is true, please encourage whoever is responsible for ensuring the seal of the plastic around your neck to try harder.
Seriously, this article makes the same incorrect assumptions that MS does: that linux is somehow vying for consumer dollars and market share. If there was only one person in the world running linux and they happily tweaked and coded away, then it would be mission accomplished for linux! MS and others just don't understand this.
I've got a tank of a 19"er that throws my back out every time I have to move it... =0
2 solutions:
Take a smaller monitor with you to parties.
or
Host parties, then you dont have to move =)
Go ahead and try it against a good guile player...;)
Like the AC posted, it's not that you are not a good Chun-li player, it's just that the Guile corner trap is unbeatable when executed properly in SF2 or SF2:CE
The site www.hotmail.com is running Microsoft-IIS/5.0 on Windows 2000.
As far back as nov 2000(that's as far as it goes back).
I do know what the original poster was talking about tho, as immediately after purchasing hotmail, MS tried to switch to IIS from BSD(?) unsuccessfully and had to switch back.
I took a look at his "interesting-people" page along with his personal webpage and he really seems to like to toot his own horn. It makes me question the motivation for the whole interesting people page... is it "hey some cool info crossed my desk, check this out" or is it the ultimate name dropping scheme "hey look who *I* know"?
Add to this his "farberisms" (inventing quirky sayings and then stamping his name all over them) and the fact he can't seem to post enough pics of himself, his vacation spot etc, and he really comes across like a pompous ass.
The very act of claiming to have invented a phrase or "being the father of a technology" is not something you should be pinning on yourself as far as I'm concerned. If you "done well" then don't worry, other people will notice on their own time.
If this seems ranty then I apologize... I've always admired selfless devotion along the lines of mother theresa but I don't have a lot of patience for magniloquence.
...at least learn how to spell the technologies you are trolling about.

If you ever feel like hanging up your trolling underpants and doing something productive, check out www.perl.com for more info.
hah it's like that old SNL sketch where the actor goes on about how he takes his roles very seriously and does a lot of research, then when they show a clip of him in action as a doctor he badly mispronounces all the medical terms.
I've always wondered this... why not hide users ips (or mask part of the ip) and only display their nickname? Surely a good portion of the DoS problems stem from user->user wars. It would certainly make it harder (but not impossible) to aquire and subsequently abuse a persons ip.
DCCs could still work with the server relaying the targets ip once they had "ok'd" the connection.
I guess the hostname/ip is handy for verifying that the person is who they claim to be, but perhaps there is another fingerprint method maybe even more trustworthy than hostnames (we all know dns isn't exactly bulletproof)
Yeah the Dells we have at work here suck too.... right out of the box they get weird video glitches in windows. They get marketed as a well engineered machine but the reality is when you take apart a dell/IBM/HP/overpriced_brandname machine you will see they use low end everything. They source they cheapest components of reasonable quality that they can find. So building your own is the way to go if you feel comfortable doing it.... unfortunately sooner or later you will run into a case where 2 very good components simply will not co-exist (you usually find this out after 3 days of banging your head against the wall). The only solution for this is to not put them in the same machine together. =/
but remember.... this is the fansite of all fansites so asskissing abounds. I'm seeing less and less intelligent material on here an more and more "j34h m4nG, m1cr050ft 5uxX! 10X!!! L1nuX r00lZ!"
All I can say to people in your situation is you must have either:
A) shitty components or
B) good components that conflict with each other
*ALL* of my win2k, linux and BSD boxes are rock solid and will stay up indefinitely (until i reboot them manually).
Don't blame your poor choice in hardware on the OS. That's what compatibility lists are for.... oh wait tho, then you would have nothing to complain about.
I don't agree with the parent post but it hardly merits a moderation of "troll". Just because it goes against The Holy Church of Slashdots commandment #4 which states
Slashdot 3:16 "The lord God sayeth 'all things must be free (as in beer) and even if they aren't they should be. Oh yeah and please mod anyone who thinks otherwise -1 troll"
Anyhow back on topic, that is certainly a valid assertion if you agree with current definitions of intellectual property. Once you chage "who really owns what and for how long" like the RIAA and MPAA are currently trying to do, then all the rules change. Think about this, just because IP exists as we know it, does that mean it's the correct way? or the best way?
Some people get *ALL* the jokes... hah
Here, let me hand you a hanky for your poor bleeding heart.
How's that for charity?
Yeah I don't suffer fools gladly, how's that for "prejudice".

I must have missed that staff meeting.

are we talking the original or CE or hyper fighting edition or what?
If if was SF2 or SF2:CE then I would bury your Chun-li with my Guile... what's that? You can't get out of the corner? Poor Chun-li... heheh
Peter Molyneux was the creator of populous so it's no suprise.
ifconfig eth0 hw ether 00:D0:23:25:18:10
The ability to do this is driver dependant of course.

Speaking of trolls, why don't you round up your troll "folks" and have a troll picnic?
What the fuck it was a valid question and I get modded down???? I will ask again then.... how does one measure/compare eye strain?
...as a general rule have a much healthier view on sex and the human body.
In north america we show movies like hannibal loaded up with gore but then we censor out a womans breasts (be afraid of your body!).
How much sense does that make... not much.

Go back to mass-emailing or flooding the newsgroups for business.
