  1. Re:Let's Do Something on Obama Backs MPAA, RIAA, and ACTA · · Score: 1

Welcome to the new corporate America.

I'm sorry, did I read that right? New? Corporations, lobbyists paid for by said corporations, and politicians "bribed" by lobbyists money (from their corporations) have been around for quite some time.

What you do not realize is that the new thing that came to this country is that people are now able to express their views in ways that make it easy for politicians to see what the people care about. And no matter how much money is involved, senator x ain't gonna get any lovin' from his corporation if he gets voted out of office, and these days, he is able to find out pretty easily what will keep him in office.

So what is happening now is that our politicians are slowly emerging to stick their heads a little bit out of their corporations pockets' and listen with about half an ear to what the people want.

Last I checked, no radio stations signed any contracts with PF limiting how they can play their music over the air.

The only way I would consider something like this is if it was sans copay. Otherwise, any situation where it would be useful will be replaced by me just calling my doctor. Shockingly, you can actually call an upstanding doc for a quick question without going through the insurance co at all. And for any issues I wouldn't feel comfortable resolving over the phone, I am going in to the office anyway - the internet be damned.

Though after this program is in effect, I wouldn't be surprised if doctors refuse to take regular calls, only "paid" calls.

My only viewpoint is: I would rather have to buy my own insurance, and become dirt poor because of the high cost, than have "universal" health care, and become dirt poor because of the crazy taxes and crappy economy that are sure to result (ya I said that).

IOW - I'd like to control my own life, which includes my healthcare, and I thought that was kinda the whole point of the "free" USA.

That is like asking for proof that G-d does not exist - there is no proof. Those saying AGW is not happening are not really saying that. What they are saying is that there is no conclusive evidence that it IS happening.
