Publishers realize that they are not needed in a system where people buy e-books. They don't serve any purpose. The idea is to slow down progress till they can sell their stock and find jobs in another industry.

The enormous library is the major problem that ebooks solves for me. I filled up two book shelves with physical books in my small apartment. I purchased an ereader instead of purchasing another book shelf. I simply don't want to fill up my place with stuff.

  4. Re:Note to Publishers: I'm Done with Paper on E-Book Sales Have Tripled In the Last Year · · Score: 1

Nonsense books are trashed all the time. Libraries throw out books every year to make room for newer books. Used books stores won't buy any book you bring in. If you see a garage sale with books in it chances are the unsold books will be trashed or recycled. Then there is the big books stores. If a book doesn't sell they rip the cover off and ship it back to the publisher. Maybe the paper is recycled. Rare books are rare because the majority of books wind up in a dump at some point. Collectors who keep books for a long period of time are an exception not the rule.

Empire builders do interesting things. You can't do anything interesting without being disruptive. Apple, Facebook, Microsoft all broke the law to get where they are at. They all pissed off some people. Anon is using Facebook to organize this event. How ironic is that? Why are they not boycotting Facebook over the privacy breaches. How many of these people are going to rsvp using their Jailbroken IPhones? Or their rooted Androids? People forgive companies for making mistakes if they put out good product. Also going after GeoHot is good for Sony's customers. I expect and want them to keep pirates, hackers, and cheaters off the PSN. His hobby is too break stuff. Why should I support that? When he did it for the IPhone it provided a useful service the market wanted. Namely using an IPhone on another carrier. What did breaking the security on the PS3 give us?... A subpar Linux box? 20 year old Zelda roms? He needs to work on his message about how he added value before he gets my support.

I see you have blinders on. Cheating effects people not involved. And it is already occurring. That happens when you break the security on other peoples devices.

I didn't buy a PS3 to play homebrew. I have a PC that runs that crap perfectly fine. I purchased a PS3 to play $30 - $60 video games. Games like Uncharted and LittleBigPlanet. Trading that for homebrew is a foolish. Sony has been good to me in the past. My PlayStation, PS2, and PS3 never had any issues. My Sony TV works great. I am hardly an abused customer. I am a Sony fanboy and I have good reason to be. I have plenty of self respect. And a firmware update that prevents me from running a twenty year old ROM of Zelda is hardly anal rape.
