    You can still follow the "bad guys", plant bugs with court authorization, use GPS trackers with court authorization, all the old school techniques are available to you. You just can't use our own devices against us. Why is that so hard to understand? Stop acting like a petulant child.

    Had a client that I rolled back to 7. The next day it tried to go to 10 again. I then used GWX control panel, and it still gave her a screen that she tells me only gave the choice to put it off for up to three days. She chose the farthest away. I used this registry key.

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate
    DWORD value: DisableOSUpgrade = 1

    Hope it works.

    Microsoft has never said they won't change to subscription. All they have said is that it is free for the life of the device. But they get to decide what the life of your device is, not you.

    And to say it doesn't contain spyware is laughable.

    They aren't keeping it overseas waiting for a better exchange rate. They refuse to repatriate it in order to avoid US taxes.

    I recall reading about something like this on Slashdot 15 years ago or so. IIRC, that one was an image on a webserver. It was advertised as deletable email.

    Just look at their chart, they are comparing apples to oranges. Their "memory test" is shown as string concactination time plus write to disk time [they break it into two columns]. Disk test is write to disk time.

    This is like saying it takes longer to walk to the store if you make a pair of shoes first than if you just walk to the store.

    That said, what we see here is the downside to open source.

    If that is the downside to open source, how do you explain Windows 8? I'm not saying open source is always best. I'm saying that pig-headed developers exist in closed source as well as open source.
