I run a non-graphical mud, and I'm afraid to say that, yes, some players love it to death, but most of the others are dying away and going to UO and Everquest...
The next generation wants graphics... too bad...

Just look at Alpha Centauri.
Sid Meier... He keeps the turn-based strategy people happy (he's working on CivIII right now, and is finishing up "Dinosaur!" which is a RTS)

The first person shooter is taking over, yes. But variation on the FPS leaves us with RPG-FPS like UlitmaIX, and Everquest, Adventure-FPS like Deus Ex (if you haven't played Deus Ex yet, you are REALLY missing out), and the Thief series (sigh...too bad Looking Glass is gone). The first person perspective is starting to be the fad, but other genres are adapting to it.
Lets not forget that RPG hasn't died (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, etc...).
The RTS will get a new boost when Black and White, and Sacrifice come out.

Lucas had already mentioned how its gonna be:
Star Wars I: You fall in love with anakin, and he meets everyone. OB1 becomes a cool jedi.
Star Wars II: Anakin becomes a big hero, OB1 becomes the big ass-kickin jedi.
Either II or III: Anakins giant fall from grace. The Clone Wars. Bubba Fett is to make an appearance here and there too.
Star Wars III: Rise of Darth Vadar, and the fight between Darth and OB1. Extermination of the jedi
So does the name "Rise of the Empire" surprise you? Seeing as the title of episode 1 is kinda unique, I'm guessing this is a fake.
And, just so you know, Lucas already said Jar Jar will be in all 3, so don't keep your hopes up.

In the ruling, the judge stated: Defendants, on the other hand, are adherents of a movement that believes that information should be available without charge to anyone clever enough to break into the computer systems or data storage media in which it is located. Less radically, they have raised a legitimate concern about the possible impact on traditional fair use of access control measures in the digital era.
Is the judge's "hacker-esque" view of your clients what was intended? How did the judge come to percieve your client in this manner??

Now if there is a large number of developers that are interested in seeing linux on a PDA, then expect to see a small, compact, quick version of gcc that will create small, compact, quick programs. USRobotics created a small efficient compiler for Palm's apps, so some linux gurus will do the same for a linux PDA's apps.
My last post was about how that anything can happen with an open source project. If it isn't available now, it will be eventually, as long as developers have interest.

Sure, you get decent power and an open source (insert obligatory drooling here) operating system, but what else?
<snip>
Not to be too rude, but that's the whole point of the open source movement. Sure, its not the absolute best as far as things like app size, but linux has just been introduced to the PDA industry. You give it a year, and it'll top all categories (including size of apps), because of the open source alone.
Its funny to see a slashdot user say that linux isn't good for some platform. I have the frame of mind that, initially, it might not be the best, but because of it being open sourced, and having thousands of developers, it will become the best for what people use it for.
Please don't hurt me for my opinion,

HR people for any gaming company constantly has a whole load of resumes to go through.
The gaming industry is one of the most sought-after places to work.
My guess is that they hire 16 year olds to sort through the resumes and pull out all the ones that do not have the prerequisite requirements (cause you know there is a million kids trying to get in without any experience or the required skills).

This is the future of the internet. Whoever has the money gets to push away everyone else!
Its like having a webcam in your room, and telling people they can't take pictures of you, because your website has proprietary ownership!
Gotta love capitalism!

I'm still peeved that they took out the 'yub-yub' song in return of the jedi! That song was the bomb!! -FK
