I personally knew six other Amiga users "back in the day". None of them gave two shits about anything Unix related. To us, the Amiga was about ideas that move computers forward, not trying to recycle old ideas. Only one of them moved to a Mac, the others moved to Windows, including myself.
For the record, when you mention emulators you give people a link to UAE, which is horribly out of date. UAE is far behind WinUAE, the Windows port. As usual on the emulation scene, the Windows version is better developed and has far more features. What does that mean? It means if you want the fastest, most accurate Amiga emulation, you need to be using Windows.

When a Linux desktop distro looks exactly like Windows XP, people already know how to use it. And with WINE being in a rather mature state, lots of software will run just fine...
