Hell, we should apply a grammar filter to Slashdot. And maybe another filter that automatically corrects "rediculous" and other cretinous misspellings.
What sounds great to me would be NFS mounting my mp3s off my computer up in my room, and cruising around campus with a ton of music on tap. Maybe combine this with some bluetooth headphones, and you've got an *amazing* jukebox. Take it to a party somewhere on campus.. instant DJ.
so yeah, it looks like they *did* steal some source code from mplayer. "but now they've released source, its ok," you say. no it isn't. apparently, they now claim that warpvision is/was GPL software. well, mplayer is released under a couple of licenses... its not all GPL, so that does not allow redistribution completely under GPL for derived works. (does that make sense to antybody else?) hmmm...
i do have to say, however, that i'm a bit disappointed in Arpad's rather immature reaction.
Arpad! you listening? rabit, knee-jerk reactions like this make us look bad. i have a lot of respect for you as a programmer, but your reaction is way out of line.
"They will die a dog's death for sure I swear!" its SOFTWARE, for god's sake. lighten up.
I've purchased boxed copies of every version of SuSE since 6.4. Not because I'm not "smart enough to actually learn how to use it," but because I believe in supporting companies that I appreciate. People that are smart enough to use Linux, but not smart enough to understand basic economics (or don't give a rip about the company that makes their distro of choice) are the ones that don't buy boxed sets. Its in my best interests to keep SuSE around, so why not cough up the money?
you missed his point... the poor, brittle engineering is evidenced by the macos' boot sequence and lack of useful information.
sigwinch's point was that apple could get away from this because they only had to support a very small number of configurations.
i can't speak for digital unix or irix, but solaris machines are plenty verbose through the boot sequence, and even more so when something breaks. the fact that these unices only run on a small number of machines has nothing to do with their quality of engineering.
How about we sue the producers of such movies as Hackers and such. They used *our* culture without our permission, and portrayed it in a negative and untrue light.
do what i do....
when i get spam or phone calls that leave an 800 number, i call the number every day and complain for a week. the calls cost *them* money. not a lot, but if everyone did it, we could put some companies out of business.
the best part about those clothes isn't the speaker bit... its the part about them being transparent! woohoo!
on second thought, that might be a bad thing.
It doesn't make a difference, not to me. SB Live, Altec Lansing speakers, so they're not crap, but they're not professional either. I record everything at 192kbps, because I can't tell the difference when its any higher. And if I can't tell the difference, what's the point?
Censorship?!? I think not. Censorship is preventing *others* from reading things you disagree with. He's just asking for the slashdot equivalent of adding "goatse.cx 127.0.0.1" to/etc/hosts.
He, like I, was probably suckered in by mention of CTHD, and failed to see your name on the story.

So this is a bad thing?
Seems that this might encourage studios to stop making crap.
Of course, judging by the kind of garbage that does well these days, there's probably no hope.
*sigh*
at least there are foreign films.

RIDICULOUS. IT'S SPELLED RIDICULOUS, YOU IDIOT
why not use piss instead? tastes the same as fosters.
who's the asshole?
the guy in a fucking suv.

Nah, just mention it in #h4k3rz or something. Let the problem work itself out.

Anybody else notice that their website was done with Adobe GoLive? Kind of takes the wind out of their sail, methinks.
Or am I the only one still old enough to remember that?
damn, slashdot readership must be young. even my 12 year old brother knows that.
wow. you must not have even read his post.
he _did_ say that the official apt sources have good debs.
he also pointed out debian's rpm skills

hmm.. how about "katz dyke nun"
coincidence? you decide.
Why is it hard to believe? The cat on the Honda is simply far better than is needed... so it cleans up its own emissions and then some.

no color palm v? what the hell are you talking about?
the m505 is basically a color palm v, with a faster processor, more ram, and a card slot.
well, where can I buy an ATX PPC motherboard, then?

*NICE TROLL*
you got me with the Hemos bit... very nice. I am definitely impressed.
Then why did his quote of the article say '2002?'

Now if only I could Slashdot Amazon's 'one-click' system.
you've clearly lost control of this "slashdot effect" that you've patented, and the patent is therefore unenforcable. so nyah nyah.
you, sir, are an idiot.
