    Actually, armel has the same endianess as x86, and it's 32bit by default as well. Transition from x86 to ARM is easier than from x86 to x86_64.

    1. 1. NEON is very fast. Miscompiling your code for softfp doesn't mean ARM is slow.
    2. 2. i.MX515 doesn't have to have slow memory, just this particular chip
    3. 3. The Cortex A8 is a SoC, while this Atom isn't. Factor in the power used by the Atom's board too.

    I can't afford the ridiculous weight of paper books anymore. If it's not digital, I can't realistically read it. There's a very limited supply of good ebooks outside amazon, and even more limited supply of DRM-free books.

    I think he means industrial-strength storage, which almost never has anything to do with batteries.

    There are things like pressure tunnels, counterweights, entire lakes used for pressure differentials. No batteries there.

    Me too. It's getting harder and harder to find a good Android phone with a good keyboard. Sadly, the lovely G1 still has the best keyboard.

    For certain corner cases, transaction fees are prohibitively high. And for those, a system like Skype's is much more honest.

    You pre-pay in whatever currency you wish at first. All prices are shown in your local/current currency. If you wish to change currency, you must spend all the money you currently have (they could add a transfer option too, I guess).

    Always in money, always in your preferred currency.

    That's bullshit. JIT compilers increase the attack surface somewhat, but not significantly.

    Also, interpretation is always going to be slow. Lua is very slow without LuaJIT. So are most Scheme and Common Lisp implementations. Which is why no one in their right mind would turn of the JIT.

    A JIT may be harder to write than a bytecode interpreter, but it's not much harder to make secure

    Just buy games without DRM, or at least the games you really care about. Also, donate to all open source emulator and server re-implementations you care about. It'll reduce the pool of games you can peruse, but not that much.
