You then go on to talk about the cataloging and batch features (GIMP can do batch, but let's not get into that), which similarly are not generally features of a photo editing tool but rather something like, say, Picasa (I'm sure there's a FLOSS 'equivalent').
Geeqie is quite a fabulous image manager, for want of a better word. More brilliant than you could imagine, IMHO.
With very few exceptions, that's unlikely. A person used to luxury, comfort and abundance versus a person who fights daily for survival whether in an actual physical confrontation or merely by having to go out and get water or food - not much smart money will be on the pasty-face keyboard warrior, even if he's got some fancy firearm.
Probably too simple a suggestion, but it certainly makes sense to me. Amazon knows if it has shipped product X to user Y - only allow a review from Y on X if it has.
The reason why so many people stick with XP, or Vista, or even Windows 2000 is because it just works. They understand it. They don't need added gobbledy-gook flying all over the screen, or the OS "hiding" stuff on the assumption that they don't need it.
On the contrary, the OS hiding stuff is exactly what OS X and WinXXX do.
I went completely the other way and removed AdSense & Analytics from my site. If Google are that desperate to fuck with privacy and shit, they will have no help from me.
A sliding door would have been far more practical, and no, gullwing doors do not need less space. That is the main thrust of my comment. Partially, my complaint is also that it's an electric vehicle due to massive issues with range and recharge times. The combination, coupled with a seriously massive base price just makes this even more of a non-solution.
I'm busy backing out of all Google services now. I've stripped AdSense and Analytics from my site, and I will remove my Google+ account and delete my gmail one too. Google may not yet be evil, but they look and smell rotten from here.
Fuck Microsoft. Really. Even if it works fine, is less hassle and quicker to implement, do you have no grasp of their history, their lack of ethics and their deceit? Why people don't take harder stances against bad business practices baffles me.

Thank you. A sensible post on /., at last.
FWIW, Linux has been exclusive to *my* desktop since '98. So for me, it's been year of Linux on the desktop accurately every year since then.
I'll take 4 if they're going spare...

Why the hell would you bin by extension?
I see what you did there :)
American English is a fallacy. There's English, and there's wrong.
Linux printing is easy and has been for some time. Ditto scanning. There are a few unsupported printers, but they're the real cheap pieces of shit.
Interesting. I've been here since the late nineties and have never seen a genuinely leftist comment.
Trust me, you need to look at her picture first. Then you'd not worry about the phone number...
WTF does that last sentence even mean?

FFS. I suppose it gets spoken about, but a massively impractical non-solution.

Nice from the Craigslist folks. Aren't they eBay-owned though? Anyway, good to see perl getting some loving for a change.

This, this, this.
You ALL know why: A custom hosts file w/ 1,651,067++ entries
So, 1,651,068 entries?
That was easy too, as the decimal point came into play because 29/40 as a percentage (72.5%) is not a whole number.
I've been Linux desktop only since ~1998. Only ever see MS Windows if I am fixing someone's machine really.
...is clearly a spelling error.
