  1. Re:From the Gimp to Lightroom on The Book of GIMP · · Score: 1

You then go on to talk about the cataloging and batch features (GIMP can do batch, but let's not get into that), which similarly are not generally features of a photo editing tool but rather something like, say, Picasa (I'm sure there's a FLOSS 'equivalent').

Geeqie is quite a fabulous image manager, for want of a better word. More brilliant than you could imagine, IMHO.

With very few exceptions, that's unlikely. A person used to luxury, comfort and abundance versus a person who fights daily for survival whether in an actual physical confrontation or merely by having to go out and get water or food - not much smart money will be on the pasty-face keyboard warrior, even if he's got some fancy firearm.

Probably too simple a suggestion, but it certainly makes sense to me. Amazon knows if it has shipped product X to user Y - only allow a review from Y on X if it has.

The reason why so many people stick with XP, or Vista, or even Windows 2000 is because it just works. They understand it. They don't need added gobbledy-gook flying all over the screen, or the OS "hiding" stuff on the assumption that they don't need it.

On the contrary, the OS hiding stuff is exactly what OS X and WinXXX do.

A sliding door would have been far more practical, and no, gullwing doors do not need less space. That is the main thrust of my comment. Partially, my complaint is also that it's an electric vehicle due to massive issues with range and recharge times. The combination, coupled with a seriously massive base price just makes this even more of a non-solution.
