To my wife, anyone who speaks spanish is Mexican. To her Mother, anyone who speaks Spanish is Spanish. My wife accepts correction when necessary, but after a long life of messing it up, I don't bother with my Mother-in-law.
Scientists wonder a lot of things. That's the point of science. Fortunately the state of tech has advanced significantly since then, and they can wonder about things closer to current reality. Also, speculating about earth without greenhouse gases is pointless - we'd not exist if earth had no greenhouse gases. There's a balance/cycle of balances and the question is how far off we've hosed up the balance.
I've had bariatric surgery, and I don't get enough nutrients through the minute amounts of food I eat daily - think in the range of 500 calories or so, pure protien and some fiber/veggies. Multivitamins (plus additional vitamins) have kept me from dying, and will do so for the rest of my life.
Even better, try any of the more powerful Android-based set top boxes running XBMC for something even better. You can take them to straight Linux if you like for even better performance.
In a news story, the NSA would look good simply by breaking Tor....no need to make shit up. Tor is already a den of drugs and child porn to 99% of the.2% who know anything about it.
I understand your post, but if you're relying on a light bulb to heat your house, you're doing something wrong.... or you sleep with the lights on, which is still doing it wrong. So, in summary, you're doing something wrong.
Unions provided higher wages back then. Corporations prospered, and CEO's didn't starve. We've had "prosperity" since 1980, but now, American workers aren't making shit for wages, and have to buy everything on credit, and also have to work two jobs, in order to stay afloat. There's no comparison.
I'm glad we had anti-union pushback to provide those 50 years of higher wages and prosperity after the depression! Who knows how much higher wages would have been without the unions messing stuff up and preventing business owners from paying more out of the kindness of their hearts!
...is not dramatically different from the hundreds of preceding days during which we have worked to make GM a company our country can be proud of again
A lot of Americans will not be proud of GM no matter what cars they build. They've been instructed not to because of the insidious union operating there.
Don't make generalizations about scientific matters that you know nothing about. On a scientific level, the subject IS a huge concern. Whether this particular article is one to be concerned over is another matter.
Also, we need a "base station" whether desktops go away or not. You need to feed your tablets and phone and set-top boxes from somewhere, and the cloud is too monetized to really help consumers. The desktop or whatever base station is in vogue in the privately-owned and controlled appliance that we need.
nowadys typing it on a forum and hitting submit is just as dumb as googling it if you consider where the data is going and what filters are active out there.
You forgot the ones prostituting themselves to corporate interests and various political parties

One example of XP machines that generally don't get updates is ATM's.

I'm pretty surprised he hasn't monetized this whole thing.
The Dole lobby would be huge.
In 20 years, robots could be the "workers". We're screwed unless radically change.
I meant to say that families need two earners to stay afloat.

I want to personally slip cyanide into all of their fancy coffee cups and THEN watch the video.
The OP was talking about planets, right?
Lenovo is huge in business laptops. They're durable and reliable and don't have any obviously stupid features or issues with them.
Anything that's going to be "available within 4-5 years" is pretty much bullshit. A real plan would have a real date.
And more profitable.
I wonder if it'll have more PC-centric voice actions? Time to get a mic for my PC.
once your friendly insurance company gets ahold of it, it'll cost $650. Affordable, by their standards.
