how many old people eat crappy salt/sugar/carb laden food just because their parents made it for them as kids. and how many because their medical costs are hundreds per month and they can't afford good food + housing + transpo + medicine?
Nah, I think the Toshiba was $1199 regular price. That's what my 'adjusting for sale price' comment was referring to.... I don't consider a $100 increase over $1200 that bad but hey, that may be a deal breaker to someone else. I don't usually buy Sony products (and I didn't intend to that day) but I was pleasantly surprised by this one given the bad reputation I hear from everyone.
Right now, they seem to be doing better on price. I was out to get a 55 inch Toshiba lcd for $999, but the store was sold out. A comparable $1299 sony unit was there, and I was allowed to take it for 999 instead. Great TV, comparable picture, comparable price when taking sales prices into account.
I have to agree, it was very bad, and MS started out handling it in the worst way. Eventually, Microsoft took care if it, and did it in the best way possible...pay that money up front, do a 'my bad', and satisfy your customers.
Those pro-wii arguments are a couple of years old. Selling a zillion consoles is most deffinitely a success, but failing to continue to sell games is a problem. You sour parents on the next Nintendo consoles when their child isn't playing the dust-covered wii anymore.
I think Live and PSN 'panned out' just fine, and the complex consoles did fine, even with lower sales than the wii. They built customer base for this gen coming up, and had games that warranted more than 15 minutes' play. I don't think Nintendo did itself any favors by selling so many consoles and not backing it up with compelling content - especially when it was released with a built-in technical disadvantage. The wii U is nice, but time will tell what kind of games it's bringing.
THIS HERE WHAT HE JUST SAID. It's phones, not Nintendo or Desktops that are threatening consoles. Phones are killing consoles, Desktops AND portable gaming devices. No one sat there and said, "you know, maybe I shouldn't buy a console because PC's are so much better". They weighed between a 360 and a ps3 and then everybody also bought a wii no matter what they chose. Desktops will be along for the ride again this gen. Sorry, there's nothing to turn that around on the horizon. The question remaining is whether consoles can hold on to their shares when phones are really catching up to them in power.
Wii won in unit sales, but they have turned a generation off with a (yes, huge-selling) fad device and continued rehashes of old franchises.
If they don't steal some core players from MS and Sony, they're sunk this time around. they need to out-power the big boys and deliver some adult games that compete with the exclusives that Sony and MS own.
Global warming isn't necessarily places getting nice and warm. It's more changes to weather patterns. Like spring happening weeks early because my plants are like wtf happened to winter. Also I killed a huge fucking master-level MOSQUITO in winter. Atlanta does not have mosquitos in winter. Do you know what that means? Atlanta is going to be a buffet for mosquitos this summer as we didn't kill them off this winter. We are extra fucked. It's going to be an incredibly hot orgy of mosquito food and sex. This summer anyone who tells me its not global warming is going to get put in a headlock and i'm going to let mosquitos eat their skin in the 100 degree heat. We already had a pollen reading of over 9300...EARLY. It's literally tree bukkake.
That point you're trying to make answers nothing. Evolution has been observed everywhere, and in many contexts. ID has not been observed at all, and even genetically modified creatures who are able to breed in sufficient numbers will evolve.
We have plenty of honest people trying, but they're always iraq war vets with buzz haircuts who scream how bad everything is while trace atkins blares in the background. And they're generally complete morons.
Having them outsource my job to India in 2004 was the best thing that could have happened. Better to get off the capsizing ship before the rest of the rats have to.
A weak, conservative mindset. We're on this rock until we have to - or want to get off. Hopefully by then we'll have studied and developed space, and spacecraft enough that we can. Regardless, space research has paid off big time, and will continue to do so until conservatives succeed in killing it in the name of corporate interests or jeses or whatever they feel gets them more votes.
Since when does less profit = loss?
Less profit (even a little less) and putting the money to good use elsewhere would be the cure for so many of our problems today, it's uncanny.

Pollster: Do you believe that the government should fund a $500 million grant to a group study lava flow patterns after volcanic eruptions ?
Liberal:Yes
Georgia conservative:Um, I don't really think that's a pressing issue. And $500 million seems like an auful lot of money.
Hawaii Resident:Ummm, wtf are you crazy?

Yes but seatbelts don't occur in nature.

Funny, they're printing money even with piracy.
I meant phones and tablets....

well, i have wanted to see princess peach in some other contexts.
No one does this, haha.

Creationists should be asked to be treated for 'unevolved' versions of their illnesses. Watch them backtrack reeeeeal quick on that one.
you can't print without a driver, tray icon, update app, update app for the update app, scanner tray app, and update app for the scanner app

more importantly, why in the living hell did I not come up with this?

I'd pay more for a pack of verbatims hehe
hope they take verbatims, heh

maybe it's time for Bigdog to get his sea-...arms?
