The problem appears when the managers don't understand what the geeks are doing and give orders based on unrealistic (or completely wrong) understanding of what's happening downstairs.
A percentage of geeks have people skills, they should be the ones in charge.
Exactly, bean counters count beans. Their grasp of the everyday operations, the people involved and the dynamics between them is truly lost. The bean counter adds a number here and subtracts a number there and they improve the bottom line, however, the number added may mean that the employee will be required to work 10 hour days, 7 days a week and the subtracted number may mean the employer will have to reduce the workforce, compounding an already difficult problem. Add in the fact that every time the bean counter cuts costs, their bonus increases, you can see the conflict of interest. I worked for a company that had a very high standard of quality control (this was necessary due to the product's environment.), bonuses were calculated on sales versus scrap. The bean counter mind set was that one turbine blade ordered was one sale, but in reality, it may take two or three molds to ensure one defect free turbine blade (the company had a 70% scrap rate). When the scrap rate started affecting the bonus size, the company laid off approximately 600 people to keep the bonus level from dropping. Shuffling numbers was easier than improving the production process paradigm. Although I am not into sports, I am reminded of a saying that goes; Keep your eye on the ball and not on the scoreboard.
"I think the Internet contains things which are a negative influence on my life, and I haven't the self-control *not to do those things and go those places*."
There; FTFY.
Television is just as negative as the internet, the same as some people. It all boils down to what you do with them. For me, I haven't owned a TV for about 20 years. It just sucks the life and intelligence out of you. My caveat is that do whatch some shows at friends houses and on the internet, however, I am very selective about friends and shows. The greatest obscenity on TV is the news,. In Russia, Pravda means truth and Izvestia means news, so the saying goes: "There is no truth in the news and there is no news in the truth." Texting and IM-ing friends removes you from personal contact with them causing you to lose the behavioral markers such as body language. Friend-ing everyone and anyone on social networks shows a lack of true discrimination in the choices made. Timothy Leary popularized the saying "Turn on, tune in and drop out." , I say, " Turn off (your electronic device), tune in (to your physical friends) and drop out (of the electronic blogosphere). A time will come when electrical as well as electronic media will be at a premium, if available. This will not be the time to start connecting with people without the necessary requirements of discrimination of your choices.
Anyone up for retirement more than ten years out better have arranged their own finances.you want to see pitchforks and torches? wait till the boomers retire and are told there is no money (or not enough) in the kitty. if anything will cause a rebellion, THIS would be it. people HAVE paid into the fund and they do have a right to expect a payback after working 3/4 of their lives. maybe if we had less wars (...) we'd be able to support OUR OWN FRIGGIN PEOPLE. we all will retire. this affects us all. I'm tired of stealing from our own people to line pockets of the aristocracy. they better hope there is money in the fund. even old guys can put up a fight if they are pushed to poverty.
The smartest thing this government could do is to stop taking taxes out of the people closest to retirement, less than 20 years out but we all know that isn't going to happen anywhere this side of year 2511. The fact that this government would rather see people about to retire, die is more likely. It's time for these politicians to live like the majority of the population, no job, no health-care, no house, no pension after 35 of saving, then, maybe, they will get it.
You're putting a lot of blame on a single president for things that started before he got elected. And tell me again, whose administration was tightly connected to the oil industry.
That said, I don't approve of the current White House being stacked with Wall St types. The links between industry and government has to change and corporate lobbyists have to be banned from any government office, at any level. Allowing policy to be determined by who can ante up the most is a complete subversion of one-person, one-vote.
Anyone who attains the presidency is to blame, not just the current "fish in the barrel". Politics stopped being about the people since around 1776. The Whores of DC sold their souls to corporate America back in 1941 because of the bankster policies that screwed Japan. Every corporate decision made requires political backing to ensure compliance by making it law. If the corporate agenda were to fly on merit alone, we wouldn't be in the mess were in now. Whether it is food, oil, drugs, money, corporate America wants to be in control yet, these same people wish to remain anonymous so they do not suffer the backlash of their decisions, let the stupid, greedy, arrogant self-serving drone political hacks take the hit. Unfortunately, when the proverbial shit hits the fan, fingers will point in all directions with the really guilty leaving the country with their ill-gotten gain. As for the voters, we will be left to clean up the mess, attempt to correct an untenable situation where everybody will keep the anarchy in motion since there is profit in confusion.
Any car company that could produce an affordable 100 MPG sedan wouldn't need a bailout; they would just need a couple large vaults to store all the cash they'd rake in, unless the car was (aside from being affordable to buy and fuel) a piece of shit.
Obviously, I never said it was the auto industry that would buy up and hide the patents. Hmmm let's see, who would profit the most by gas guzzling cars and trucks? Could it be the oil exporting countries and the political lackeys in their pocketses? NAYH.
Some of them, like GE were getting big money for nuclear, natgas, hydro AND coal - and doesn't pay taxes. To paraphrase an old expression, utilities win or lose, GE just gets paid.
Back in '72' these same utilities said renewable energy was unfeasible, now they're doing their best to control it. Thanks to the bought dogs of DC, it was handed to them on a silver platter. One Bought-off Afro Muslim American?
sold out America by bailing out the auto industry with no reciprocity for doing so. Then pleaded with them to build efficient cars, good luck with that. What should have been done was to tell the bloated auto industry; "The first company to build an affordable, 100 MPG, four person sedan and put it on the market gets the whole bail-out while the others can go pound sand."; but no, the American people get shit new cars by trading in old shit cars while the auto execs pat themselves on the back for a blowjob well done. For all the money that was squandered, the public should have been able to buy a car for $500, interest free, payable in ten years.
100% Correct.
When in doubt just spend and borrow more.
Whatever you do. Never spend less.
First off, hang all the lawyers, that way the international banksters won't be able to get the best justice money can buy. Secondly, hang all the banksters. It really doesn't matter whether Obama is alive or dead since his signature is recorded by auto-sign technology.
It wouldn't bother me if some of our so-called "friends" quit being our friends. What does bother me is the fact that these "friends" are our friends because we give them money. In an economy that has yet to see the bottom, our so-called "friends" would understand if the money stopped, and those that don't understand, screw 'em. The abuses of the state department in squandering the tax money of the US voters while the voters once again, have to tighten their collective belts. The payoffs to these "friends" does nothing more than prop up totalitarian regimes and support an illicit drug industry.
So this has NOTHING to do with abusing third world countries except that being able to poison the land and treat workers like dogs is considered a nice bonus to these bastards, no what we are talking about here is companies taking hand outs to then fuck us over with the money which is why we should demand payback at 75% interest RIGHT NOW and if they don't? They are banned. No GE products, no GE businesses, not even the CEO will be allowed to set foot on American soil and any assets they have here seized.
But of course that will never happen because our congress critters and dear leader are too busy cashing their bribery checks thanks to Citizens United to give a fuck. Hell the CEO that pulled this shit? Got to enjoy having GE PAY NO TAXES for most of this past decade!
The reason companies outsource to foreign nations is due to being able to reap the rewards of the American tax system. I have no problem with companies sending jobs to other countries, as long as those same companies take their administration, secretaries, CPA's, their board of directors with them. The American tax system should be for American companies hiring American workers. As for the abuses of the foreign workforce, soon enough they will wise up and start demanding higher wages, it's already happening in China. These same companies will then return to this country for the cheap labor. Personally, these companies should be told to go back where they came from. The politicians need a good dose of reality, 10 to 20 years in Ft. Leavenworth could be a start.
Let's try to be ready to avoid a planet destroying event instead of fighting each other? How many asteroids need to wiz by our planet before we realize we need to tend to them?
Corporate America, their international counterparts and all of their bought dog political lackeys are the progenitors of world destruction. I say that we should whole-heartedly support our troops and bring them home and help the American people to clean out Washington DC and all state assemblies of the rats nest den of thieves that have usurped the American dream in the name of national security. The only thing secure in this nation is the pockets, bank accounts and offshore banking instruments of these career criminal politicians. We the People doesn't include the general population. The true TERRORISTS are the international banksters who fund both sides of every conflict since who knows when. There's no need to bring down any nation by means of war. All destruction will come by increased levies on loans based on fiat monies. When a country cannot pay its loans, the banksters will just raise the debt limit. Anyone with a credit card will see the trap, and IT'S A TRAP!!!
And Jesus is coming soon.
Muad'Dib is here!

Hasn't this guy learned anything from his time at the NSA?
Sure he has, all people are equal, it's just that some people are more equal than others.

If the voters subscribe to any party, they will get more of the same. No matter what puppet takes the stage, it will be the same puppet-master .

In the case of the Middle East, it keeps Israel secure by denying Arabs the right to choose their own leaders. That's what you get for your money.
The Zionists do more to destabilize the region than all the money on the planet can rectify.

Uh, that was Union Carbide, which is now owned by Dow Chemical, which has nothing to do with GE, other than that they're both industrial companies.
Except that they use the same bought dog politicians.
As for the warmongering, this might shed some light. As for the international banksters foreclosures, you can't foreclose shit if you're behind bars.
