The cost cutting, outsourcing labour overseas with poor QC and fall in production standards even in industrialised countries like EU, US, JPN etc. can sometimes mean newer stuff is poor quality compared to old stuff. Often these days it is made to be limited life, considered disposable compared to previous tech which was made to last longer and be repaired rather than replaced. Tried and tested design at often lower price is something you can bet your business on without a gamble. Newer only has the edge if it supports features the old stuff doesn't. Even if we had it, and tbh we have other budget priorities so don't, the groups who oversee us including charities commission may see it as pissing away money needlessly and get in hot water for it. Yeah, it's exactly what it sounds like. My natural sleeping pattern makes me go to bed around 3-4am. And sleep for ~8-9 hours. And no, just waking early in the weekend does not help. This has been going on since before I started school, and nothing tried the last 20 years have changed that one bit.

I'm tired of friends and complete strangers saying stuff like "Just change your rhythm" or "You're just lazy, I did it just fine!" - I have tried, it Does Not Help. It does not change a thing.

In fact, the disorder is sometimes referred to as "social jet lag" - it might even be the exact disorder the article is hinting at.

Your comment sounds like an asshole seeing a guy in wheelchair, and saying "He's just lazy. Look, I can walk just fine, and so can my friends!"

thanks for that link on delayed sleep phase disorder. I have that exact same issue and have been called lazy despite often sleeping less than those saying it since I am forced to get up at same early times but haven't slept as even going to bed early I don't sleep. As for routine I've had this since young child and went through school, high school, college, university and so on with the problem. I'd crash when i got home and my parents would scream at me and force me up complaining about being lazy. If anything it just turned me into an angry tired person and didn't motivate me further since I was already f****ing motivated.

You can of course run encryption for when it's needed. Best thing is due to being open source there is never issues like skype has had due to proprietary nature and also more reliable in that doesn't rely on supernodes (although they don't go down much) like skype so will work as long as the machines that wish to communicate are up where as the node reliance means you have an extra 3rd party needed for comms to be up and running. Seems some people can fill their fat stores easier than others when they hit the "wrong" sweetspot of incorrect foods, inappropriate amounts or meal times and so on. Obviously your body prefers to burn fats at rest (except the brain since they can't cross blood brain barrier hence uses ketobodies in emergencies where glucose and glycogen store used up). This means if you eat fair amount of fat and keep topping up with simple sugars constantly then insulin will be constantly mopping up the sugar and the snacking means you have this constant state where the prefered energy source (fats) are not used at all, usually carbs are only the prefered source during aerobic exercise.

I do actually buy it if it is any good and like to encode stuff myself anyway as have particular size/quality/format consideration and higher end headphones. I used to buy CDs from stores and return them if they were notto my liking and the stores had no problem but these days the "piracy measures" prevent this as most stores stopped this returns policy over piracy paranoia thereby meaning piracy first and buying after evaluating is more attractive than chancing buying a "duffer". It was actually easier to sit at home and download than go to a store and buy physical cd, rip, take back etc so imagined pirates never followed that route often. I settled on slackware too as easiest as other distros had started trying to automate things and made it complicated when not ideal configs were guessed at and slack just worked better for me as being clueless it was harder to tune the other distors and slack didn't try and configure much automatically which meant I learned simple bits to do only what I needed making it the easier choice. I don't think it was so different back then as it is now from a user pov.
