    Instead of paying lawyers for this letter, they should have paid the PCI-list guy to do his job on a PCI-sig server so the whole 'trademark' problem would be inexistent!
    This list is something they should have done themselves! And now instead of supporting it, they do rude moves and make it close!
    It's a lose-lose here!

    Nope, that didn't work...

    I think it's a voluntary move from the slash(er) team so I will spare their /dev/null device... (which is the busiest device on their Minux RedHat 9.9Beta!)

    Maybe it's time for me to try what slashdot should have been
    and give my hits to their advertisers and not /.'s

    I don't think you took TCP windows into account...

    If I remember well, TCP ACKs are sent for every complete windows, which are 8KB+ in size...

    I don't think that this upstream cap could limit TCP download speed much. Maybe it can happen with some other protocols but the video-streams protocols (that another reader pointed out) do not use ACKs since they do not care about the user's speed... That's why there are multiple streams (50kbps, 100kbps, 300kbps...) available for the user to choose (based on what he thinks his connection will be with that server)

    53 minutes is a surely marking figure but i don't think it's honnest:

    Many of Office's work is done WHILE the user type things or think about a nice sentence etc...

    Not so many users have an Office that is 100% occupied all day long... (if this were the case then 53 minutes would be true)

    About the OS, well it was obvious it was gonna be slower, but i'm disappointed nonetheless

    I don't know if I'm gonna cop.. buy it... I think it's the general trend for the OSes to get slower and slower and if you don't want it, keep your CP/M machine

    They should do that for the most popular games, it's a great idea!

    Every program messes with file associations:

    RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime etc...

    What's the difference when it's MS programs?

    You can easily change the assocation by holding shift while right clicking on the file and choosing 'Open with'. You then check 'Always open with...' and there you go!

    Changing the icon is way harder and is a way more annoying thing in windows.

    Alright, people using Linux want Windows users to switch to Linux because it's more stable, more respectful of open standarts, blah blah M$ is crap blah blah lusers blah blah BUT when MS decide to be more respectful of one of these open standarts, IT'S BAD??!! Ok home users will always be 'Administrator' (and you have to be admin to spoof packets) but the shortcut is simply AMAZING!
