Thats why my kids received a PlayStation 2 instead of a upgrade to thier PC this year. The games cost the same and thier are no messy patches or driver upgrades to fvck with.
Also, with the QCast it can double as a Video/MP3 client on my home network;^)
I used to work on fighter aircraft(F-4,F-16,f-117) before I cross-trained into programming and all I can say is that it's a good thing these guys don't work on commercial aircraft.
Slip-on battery connectors are a bad idea. They should have A&P aircraft mechanic look at there craft before the next flight. If this was a home built aircraft it would be required to have a A&P inspection before first flight.
My wife has been playing the test version of Sims Online for about 2 months now (on my PC). The most interesting game the characters play for SiMoney is a 4-way Pizza makeing machine. The rest of the game seems like a glorified 3D avatar chatroom. It's also interesting that you form house holds with room-mates of both sex's but marriage is not supported. At least Virtual Sex isn't included, Yet.
My kids are happy she's playing it though, she was addicted to Kingdom Hearts(aka Final Disney) on the PS2. They have their PS2 back, but know I have to upgrade her PC so I can get mine back;^)
One way do do this with one LCD screen is to take a 15" LCD and a old Overhead projector and build a projector. You may have to have a dark room but it looks awesome. I have built one for my basement Home Theatre and it rocks. A good set of instructions can be found at VG150 LCD Projector.
Would it be that hard for Canon to come out with a digital Rebel with around 4 MP and a price point of around $500. I would love to use of my older lenses again. My 600mm zoom is great for bird watching, nudge nudge know what I mean;^)
Candescent Technologies has been working on this technology since 1991 and it looks like its about ready to go prime time with it. It has the same brightness, contrast, refresh time, and viewing angle that normal CRTs have but uses less power than LCDs in the same size package. Can't wait to hang one of these on the wall.

I quess this means that Sony will not develope a version of Napster for the Playstation 2. I was going to get a PS2 for its DVD playback capability, But I think now I will get the APEX DVD/MP3-CDR player for $150 at Circuit City.
In the past Sony and other japanese companies have chosen to not sell cool technology to the american public. This goes all the way back to 1987 when the japanese version of the Nintendo (Famicom) had some rudimentary online services.
A lot of technology utilizing the MD format has been marketed in Japan since it was created as a format in 1992. The Minidisc.org has a extensive list of such products. The most interesting page has cool data devices
A really awesome system could be created using technology Sony already owns. They could start selling MD-Mavica's here and introduce a MD drive for the Playstation 2. You could then upload your photos into the PS2's Hard drive and send them to people or use them as part of a 3D game. This would also allow you to buy downloadable music from the web and record it to MD. And since the MD cameras can also play MD audio discs you would have a multipurpose device like the Sony DSC-MD1 or the Sharp MD-PS1.
Hey Sony are you listening!?! Americans Want these cool toys too!!

Yea I have a 3DO. I got it for $25 at Babbage's. It made a great CD player in the bedroom. One of the things they promised with that standard was compatability with CDVideo discs. CDV was supposed to be the digital video format of the future. It could deliver a hour or more of MPEG-1 video on a standard CD. The only problem was you had to buy a expensive MPEG-1 Decoder cartridge to do it. It actually sold well in Europe but has faded into obscurity.
Sony was on the ball when they picked DVD compatability as a included feature. I put off buying a player until it comes out. Then I can unhook the 25ft cable from the Video-out port of my PC.
Sega has also announced a set-top version of the dreamcast that play DVDs. I think they are getting tired of losing money to Sony. If somebody sold a graphics card for PCs that was based on the next version of the Sony Graphics Synth that has 16-32mb ram built into the chip it would blow away anything on the market today.
-Q: And your point would be ? -A: Just beyond your reach.
Network Computer,Also known as Internet Appliances are already available. I am posting this from the Free Webplayer I recieved fron Virginconnectme.com which has a cool little 10" Monitor and a wireless keyboard. He also should look at Netpliances I-opener. He will not like what he see's. These devices all run on Linux or QNX which are free. Sorry Larry and Bill no royalty fees for you. of course Bill just went out and bought WEBTV instead of doing it him self, but the DOJ will fix that soon enough, we hope. Sounds like a movie where a country bumpkin dressed up a sweet little swine in a bikini and OO-la-la
