  1. CO2 and Florescent Lights on 'Wi-Fi Illness' Spreads To Ontario Public Schools · · Score: 1

When I was half-way through high school we had air scrubbers installed because the air quality was so bad. It was in a large, 2-story "relocatable" building that has since been torn down. The first few years, before the scrubbers were installed, everyone wondered why all the kids would be more sleepy in that building than in the main building. Turns out that the CO2 levels were through the roof. On another note, my wife has ADD. She swears that the florescent lighting in school would give her headaches and make it impossible for her to concentrate. My point is, there are probably a dozen reasons for what these people describe, but WiFi just isn't going to be one of them.

What makes you think that oil companies need to get the oil out of the ground in order to get rich? The more supply an oil company controls, the more say they have over the price. Shut down oil production in Iraq, sell the middle east oil from surrounding regions at a high premium, and they'll still get rich.

Could someone please dig up an old slashdot article talking about HDD's hitting their theoretical capacity peak? I'm sure there's been a few, before innovations like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perpendicular_recording came along.

The Pirate Party of Canada is eligible for Official status (they've filled out all the paperwork and have been approved by Elections Canada). They just internally elected their first candidates last night, in fact. http://www.pirateparty.ca/

  5. Ars asked nicely on Ars Technica Inveighs Against Ad Blocking · · Score: 1

Since Ars asked nicely I decided to whitelist their site from my ad blocker. I guess it doesn't really matter how I feel about internet advertising in general; if it's important to them, that's all that really matters, isn't it? I haven't been bothered by the ads in the mean time, so until that changes I'm willing to leave Ars whitelisted.
