But what stops the police themselves editing Wikipedia, and then citing it back in court? It seems exactly the sort of thing the British police would do these days...
Nothing, this is why they should have to quote two independent sources. For example Wikipedia AND Britannica. Maybe even Google Books, while they are at it, or this locla library.
Okay, I am now using text/xml, but IE8 is rendering the raw XML. Is there a trick to get IE8 to behave?

Not sure what this is asking.
The doctype.

HTML 5 has always had an XML profile called XHTML 5, and that won't go away.
So, we should still be ensuring that all tags have matching close tags? What will the document header be?
I have been told that making page uses XML compatible HTML makes for a more predictable browsing experience and also lowers memory requirements. This being the case I will try to maintain the approach, on the condition that I can take advantage of HTML5.
Where do you live? Everywhere I've lived, it's legal for cyclists to ride on the road.
Don't worry he is probably just a fustrated car driver;) Truth be told most place I have been to, bicycles should use the road when there is no cycle track. Cycling on the pavement is usually frowned upon.
Its ironic that you say the parent has to be a troll and then go into depth reasserting the same thing I was saying, but with more detail.
The problem is that while we started with a premise for freedom, we have let out governments take control of things they should not have control over. Like China, the citizens of many "first world" countries either make no effort to oppose the government or the group is sufficiently small to be cast off as a vocal minority, and that if they are heard beyond a small interest group. There are people who would love to get their governments to take notice, but feel so lost in the system that they give up before even starting. There is also the other group that is unaware that any of this is happening, because mainstream media doesn't necessarily cover the issues.
Oh, and there is indeed a high degree of complacency about government control/meddling in their everyday lives. Mei ban fa.
Sounds like the citizens of China are like the citizens in most other places. Remember only a small handful of people made much noise about the warrant-less wire-tapping, for example.
I should have the read the article first, since no where in the article do they mention the word 'standard'. When they do decide to make it happen I do hope the submit the proposal to the right organisations, as to avoid making this a one browser standard.
Is this 'standard' endorsed by anyone else or written up as part of an RFC? Calling something a standard when you are the only guys doing sounds like a certain company that was started by Bill and Paul.
I am not trying to troll here, since I am all for the solution, I am just ensuring that this properly documented and shared by the right entities (think W3C).
Considering that it already connects to USB sockets, then all that is needed is a USB - micro-USB adaptor.
The only question is whether USB power plugs will be made 'smarter', since there are still some that won't charge certain telephones for what ever reason.
Since they obviously pulled this out of the hat in a rapid series of decision to help quell the masses, did they properly secure rights to be showing them?
Does it really matter, since after all the "Islamic revolutionary government" has final say over the law in Iran? Its not as if a WTO breach would make much more of a difference to the Iran-USA relationship.
Just took a look. It isn't cheaper, but given the number of drives it can do at once, it is probably more convenient. I am sure their security budget would cover that easily.
Data recovery firms can recover data from formatting
For clarity, this is often since formatting simply writes the bare minimum for the disk to be useable. To be really sure you need a low-level format that writes random 1s and 0s to the whole disk.
Sorry for being cynical, but I always get the feeling that if there is something authoritarian to participate in Microsoft is first in line. Examples:
- Windows DRM
- Windows Media DRM
- Zune DRM - incompatible with Windows Media DRM
- Windows Advantage - when it works
- Site blocking
- HDCP
- Paying Zune royalties to the media industry
- Others?
Sure, Microsoft did not come up with all these solutions, but they have shown zero signs of trying to resist. In fact I get the opposite feeling.
Does anyone know if there are any stand alone devices designed to erase the data on a hard drive? I am thinking something you plug in and it then goes about erasing all the data (I am thinking simpler and cheaper than a PC). I doubt a magnet would be a reliable solution. While destroying the HD physically is a solution, it prevents the drive being reused.
So the game will have to stop being distributed (unless ScummVM decides to dual-license the code to the publisher) and there might be a copyright-infringement fine.
Which can only be done if all the contributors agree.

Got my answer: You still need to include the XHTML strict doctype.

I love moderators, they moderate an incorrect post informative and one correcting it redundant? Guys I really believe it should be:
- grand-parent: over-rated
- parent: informative
I don't get the feeling I know what Lori was charged with.
She killed Michael Jackson.
I get the feeling moderators don't read articles either.
Just for some clarity she was accused of cyber-bullying that lead to a 13 year old girl to commit suicide.

This Harper government becomes more fascist every week it seems. Thank GOD they don't form a majority of seat in parliament.
On the other hand he can do almost as he pleases, since the opposition does not what to make a challenge that will lead to an early election.

Apple indicates while it won't drop its connector, it will enable adaptors to be made:

Video, or I don't believe you exist ;)
I should have been clearer: I was thinking of a video, so I don't need to install it.
This is a really bad name for a 3D UI. Next up they'll come up with a way to lose files as you save them, just like your car keys.
They had thought of naming it 'ADump', but thought better of it ;)
Any demonstrations of the technology in action?
