For future cards, can't some talented hackers figure out a solution? I mean, isn't that what open-source is (partially) about? Before hardware vendors started to 'supply' drivers, coders in the community wrote their own.
...but it's interesting that they're still going to use Win9x on a server, so they can use Win4Lin. I guess WINE isn't quite ready for production usage in an environment like a school... Maybe eventually they'll be able to phase out MS win altogether. (I hope)
A friend of mine once had an IBM 386 that was huge, and rugged as well. That thing was a monster, in that it was barely comparable to today's "laptop." This beast had a keyboard that pulled out and it weighed a ton. It seems to me that most laptop makers are going for smaller, not bigger/more rugged. Getting a bigger laptop seems to be going the wrong direction in their eyes...
It amazing how worked up an AC gets over a joke statement of "BSD is NOT dying"... Why don't you log in and speak your mind, instead of hiding behind the AC wall?
Excuse me Mr. Moderator... how can I be redundant? check the (#) after the date, mine says 2... I was the first to post this for this thread. #1 was a FP!... Mod this up, and learn how to moderate!
I have used many different search engine sites since I began using the internet in 1993. (I know it's not as long as some, maybe most of you) Back then I started with Webcrawler then YAHOO!. After getting easily annoyed with those, I found Altavista, which back then was actually at http://altavista.digital.com. I stuck with AV for a very long time, until I found GOOGLE... Ahhh Goooooogle. What can I say, there's nothing easier, and faster. Plus when I want to do a specific search, I love the option of adding on the/linux or/apple. It makes those 'special' searches that much easier. I'm a Googler for life...
From the pictures, it looks like a piece of junk, all beat up. Half a million dollars? what the hell would you do with it? You can't fix it up, it seems like the type of thing that a materialistic yuppie would buy to say, "I have a mansion, a yacht, a ferrari and a russian space shuttle."
Does anyone have, or know of a mirror to d/l this?

Maybe slightly Off-Topic BUT...
I was surprised to not see a "Cyborg Bill" icon next to this M$ story. Just a thought.
WARNING: goatseO's link above from stileproject.com
YES, _that_ one. Google's cache, eh?
I installed Corel Linux once, and it used KDE, not GNOME.
I remember a VERY similar story on /. a few months back. I would post a link, but the /. search tool is down again. (no shock to me)
your investments are belong to us
;)
IIRC, Yellow Dog is based on Redhat's early work to port Linux to the PPC architecture. That's why it's based on rpm.
but at least they hacked up a link to the unofficial apple museum... their link was Like this
Here's the 'cleaned-up' link from me: Enjoy

/apple should be /mac
I always do that, even when actually typing in the URL into Mozilla. Shite.

Netcraft shows that it's Linux, FYI...
"The Connective Linux 7.0"
;)
I guess the translator doesn't realize Connectiva as a brand name, or maybe if you speak english, it is called "Connective"
