  1. "let them worship how, where, or what they may" on Utah Votes 'No' to Darwin's Critics · · Score: 1

If this is so, then what's with the kids in white shirts and ties on bikes "selling" Mormonism all over town? Looks like your 11th Article of Faith is contrary to the whole missionary thing.

  2. Re:Faster than light travel on Is the Earth in a Vortex of Space-Time? · · Score: 0, Redundant

Read "A Brief History of Time" by Stephen Hawking. Since a car can not travel *at* the speed of light, the light emitted from the headlights will still shine.

What's wrong with abstract base classes and inheritance? These are fundamental concepts of OO. Spaghetti code can be written in any language, regardless of these features.

  6. Re:Experience is key... (University of Phoenix) on How Important is a Well-Known CS Degree? · · Score: 2, Informative

I am in the process of completing my MBA in Technology Management at the University of Phoenix, and I can assure you it is far from a diploma mill. The curriculum is rigorous, maybe even more so than local competing colleges. The school's stigma is attributed to the adult learning model and its methods of advertising. The school is a business, after all. My wife also teaches undergraduate Nursing for UOP. As faculty, she too can attest to the legitimacy of the school.

  7. InfoPath on Formats for Electronic Forms? · · Score: 1

Information collected with InfoPath 2003 can be integrated with a broad range of business processes because InfoPath 2003 supports any customer-defined Extensible Markup Language (XML) schema and integrates with Web services. As a result, InfoPath 2003 can help you connect directly to organizational information and then act on it, which leads to greater business impact.

Funny...not only am I a die-hard Voltron fan...I actually suggested to my wife last night that the new terminator is female so that her boobz can detatch as missiles. This is presumably to get around the T1000's deficit of not being able to morph into complex machinery.

  11. DirecWay on Another Stab At Internet Access By Satellite · · Score: 3, Informative

I am a DirecWay user, after having moved out of the range of DSL. AT&T Broadband doesn't offer Cable Modem service in my town. I can honestly say DirecWay sucks, but its just slightly better than dialup, so I guess I can justify its ridiculous cost. The second DSL is available in my area, I'm switching back.

  14. Clusters aren't magic! on IBM (Offically) Launches Linux Box Clustering · · Score: 2, Insightful

What most people fail to understand about this type of cluster (high-performance, rather than high-availability) is that your apps don't *magically* become faster because you have N more nodes to run them on. Cluster applications require coding to an interface such as MPI or PVM to reap the benefits of the hardware. I don't know of any MPI-aware Quake or Apache servers though ;-)
