I got Wave during the beta, as did many of my friends, and we all thought it was pretty nifty. After a few weeks, it had pretty much lost its allure and almost none of us were using it because the majority of the people we communicated with didn't use it.
The really problem with Wave was definitely marketing. If I asked a random, "normal" person if they used Google Wave, their answer would be "Huh? What's that?" No one knew about it.

I get why the programmers are disgruntled, the code they write makes a lot of money and they aren't getting a huge cut, but it seems like the algorithm the program is based on would be the most important aspect. Besides, $100,000 a year doesn't seem that bad to me.
He probably would've done rather well. The problem with most High Schools is that they don't even come close to challenging their students resulting in boredom, lost interest, and poor grades. My high school Physics class consisted of complete drivel and my grades suffered because of it.
When I was in school, higher achievers were in one class, average students in another and lower achievers and those with behavioral issues in another. Teaching was tailored to each class and everybody learned at their pace. Lower achievers could learn with more help, higher achievers just saw more content and everybody was happy.
That is how grade school is where I live, even more so in the Middle and High Schools. In grades 1-6 they usually have a class for "Accelerated" students and in grades 7-12 the smarter kids take harder and more in-depth classes.
I don't think they surveyed to see what people thought iPad owners were like, but I do think they asked people a few questions about their personality, what they thought about the iPad, and if they owned an iPad. If they just asked what people thought about iPad owners, they wouldn't know that most "Independant Geeks" are critical of, and don't own, the iPad.
Unfortunately, it's impossible for us to know much about the validity of the study as they didn't adequate cover its methodology.
It's only a question of how useful that something is in the rest of your life.
A few years ago, I read a story about a man who saved someones life with skills he learned from playing America's Army. I've played that game a few times, and it actually requires you watch videos about CPR and such to become a medic.
I've heard that many programmers have issues coding for 2 and 4 core processors. I'd like to see how they'll addapt to running "run hundreds of threads" in parallel.
Basing emplyment on IQ is pointless as it doesn't actually predict "real-world" performance. This is similar to college only accepting students with a score in the top 1% on the ACT/SAT - they can do well on a test, but that doesn't mean they are a good student.
It went about 5 miles down the road where me and several volunteers helped disassemble, sort, package, and ship the components to somewhat local refineries to complete the recycling process. None of it even left the tri-state area during the whole process.
I held a computer and electronics recycling day in my town. We were able to collect over 50 used computers and many other things. Several of them were refurbished and given to people who could use them, but the majority had to be recycled. We didn't ship them to China or Africa either. I'm sure that there will always be people out there trying to game the system to make a quick buck, but there are a lot of people who are just trying to help out (by reducing "ewaste" in my case).

Where are you getting this information? The original story referred to its last flight as the "first ever manned night flight on a plane propelled exclusively by the power it collects from the sun." It is an ultralight, but it is not a UAV.
It's fantastic that air travel can now be powered using solar enery alone, but I think that our real emphasis needs to be on needs to be the successful implementation of renewable energy sources in automobiles. Sure, planes use a lot of fuel, but I'm sure that the millions of cars and trucks driven every day are burning through our resources much faster.

I'm 18, so I'm still considered to be relatively young by most, and even I cringe when I hear/see Sun replaced with Oracle.

Considering that I've seen videos from Wikileaks on the Colbert Report, it definitely could happen.

You are correct in your assumption. Apple's patent specifically mentions being used in a power adaptor for a laptop computer.
At present, Apple won't license their "MagSafe" connector to anyone.
