Fair enough. If they don't make a,stand for free culture It's totally legit.
and when I think about it, must subbers don't. At least in the anime scene they are very much for supporting the establishment as soon as a venue is offered.
this surprises me. I would really expect pirate groups to stick to free and/or open principles.
I guess they're just another group of hypocrites, ugh.
note: NC is neither free or open in the sense of the word used in this context. In fact, it could be argued that making the subs themselves available on any site with ads is a license violation, It's almost impossible to safely distribute in any real way something that is marked NC.
netflix wants DRM on their streaming, as they aren't charging buy a movie/show prices and need your stuff to expire when you stop.paying.
netflix has a place in the world even without copyright law though, in fact a stronger place I imagine, they could still charge for their convenience, and their suggestions.
netflix is most likely going to get sunk by the industry in the next couple of years.
my computer is nearly 5 years old though, I really meant dx7 era games as working and the performance not mattering as much. Though jerking motion probably would happen no matter how much power you throw at it.
I really don't see it as a problem for games, especially older ones where performance is less likely to be an issue. games aren't going to suffer from being non native in quite the same way as an office app, having pretty much their own interface painted by the game engine.
Also, Newsweek was an advertising delivery style paper, while the economist makes it money from sales/subscriptions (it has ads, but is quite ad light relative to something like Wired or Newseek).
The thought that a publication is going to transition to subscription revenue rather than ad as it is in it's death sounds unlikely, of course it worked for Mad a handful of decades ago, so it's not impossible, just doesn't sound like they will succeed.
I've never thought of computers as a good currency.
Though I think computers as currency would be inflationary, as the amount of goods you can buy with a computer would be going down.
though the poster you responded to said bitcoins would have no where to go but down once they are all mined, that's not true, if they were a generally accepted currency, the real value of the economy would increase (more things being made as population and efficiency increase), bitcoins would stay the same quantity, and you'd be able to buy more with them, therefore incentive to spend and invest is reduced, this further slows the economy, making investment a worse idea, as the bitcoins accrue value doing nothing. That's the deflationary spiral that is happening now. The opposite as computers as currency, and the pressure to hold off and buy a computer six months from now has lasted with me for well over 18 months before.
They get away with it because there is no punishment for hassling people.
my friend was driving out of state (a crime on some highways apparently) and saw the cop obviously indicate to the trunk. Since she was clean, there was no recourse. Had she actually been transporting drugs there very well could have been (false arrest blah blah).
So only criminals have standing to challenge the practice, and only if they get a lawyer and fight rather than cut a deal. Good luck proving it too.
As I delawarian that's been through I inspection about a dozen times, I can tell you they never check the parking break.
they do check the regular breaks, all four wheels must work, with no pull (slam on the breaks at 5 mph in the inspection garage on a special platform).
They also don't check the aim of your headlights, but there are laws about that too.
Apple has said It's not the money, It's the oppressive hours, and people sleeping on campus where they can get awoken from slumber, drink a cup of coffee and start a 12 hour shift that makes China so good for manufacturing.
good luck getting work like that in the western world (we are privledged to have better conditions here).
No, because I initially read the question as "what book blah blah blah..." Singular.
also, I think the other responses I've received demonstrate that it made for an interesting question, but really it was poor word play on how I read the question.
Not so much in the/. crowd, but in general, someone that answers with a generic "the bible" doesn't really know what they are talking about (the religious types here are not typical, and I suspect have real opinions of parts and whys).
If one chooses the bible, I expect them to tell me which book of the bible.
My personal life view is most influenced by the attitude Chaucer took when writing about his characters in The Canterbery Tales. His irreverent love for bad people is how I try to live my life (without hating everybody). To me it sums up the secular implications of Jesus' message.
It would dramatically increase the cost of oil, and there is no reason to assume the oil would stay in North America if other countries have more of teh money.
Are you aware of what the word racist means? Would you use the phrase "can't be racist since the author is Muslim"? there are multiple races in the Muslim world you know, and much like in the Christian world, there is plenty of hate between them, but speaking out against a religion is never racism.
The adjacent close and start buttons are frustrating.
Additionally, close is in the sweet spot, with start being a target that can over-shoot to close.
the fact that this is a design decision (that has become worse with versions, early unity had start in the true corner) sums up the issue I have with unity (poorly, if not actively wrongly designed) .
I have other opinions, but that is the shining example of objectively wrong ui design, that is made worse as revisions are made.
I thought they were pretty big on desktop projects. Upstart was pretty popular for a spell with a few distros (though not as much anymore), also the xwindows replacement I believe they are funding.
additionally unity (love it or hate it) is an ubuntu project, and they contribute to sub sonic.
linux is more than a kernel, and I would suspect the kernel met their needs 5 years ago, they are contributing upstream and making their own projects in the user space.
this myth that ubuntu does nothing is annoying and wrong, just as would be true if one said that about fedora (not red hat), slackware, debian, etc.
Because freedom and openness are both incompatible with NC.

Civilization II was Windows only, could run in 3.1 though.
A list of games that work, and how:
http://www.gog.com/en/mix/great_gog_games_that_works_on_linux
A lot of Wine and open source ports/re implementation of the engines (was it icculus or something that did those?). Not just DOSbox.
Marquis de Sade was political, non?

I don't believe that's true though.
I look at apple tv, and nexus q, I look at the prices, and come to a very different conclusion.
the 30-40 dollar numbers are leaving something out.
I punched the shit outta that monkey in the 90s, I think that means I get .cola tld

Google used the apis and re implemented the code.
if nvidia wants to re write linux with the same apis, they are welcome to.

The HTC keyboard (my favorite soft keyboard) has arrows about 75% of the time.
it should be configurable for always, especially as it is pretty arbitrary (not here for example, but often in far smaller inputs)
