    The "warm white" CFs are very warm, and the "soft white" are very close to a standard incandescent.

    The "sunlight" are very cool, but I use them where there is insufficient lighting (mostly outside and in the basement) because they look much brighter than they are.

    The "full spectrum" bulbs are a little cooler than incandescents, but make artwork and tapestry look great (or faded if it is).

    CF bulbs are not by any means universally cooler color than an incandescent though.

    Wii has shipped about twice as many as Xbox360 in the first 2 months.

    Also shipments are up and not down.

    That's not my point at all.

    I prefer not to be stuck in traffic behind some asshole that drives to fast and causes an accident. If someone who caused an accident was forced to pay everyone they got stuck in traffic minimum wage for the time lost it would probably be an effective deterrent too. Being stuck in traffic is not more freedom than being stuck in prison (though it is quicker).

    I really don't think speed limit should be 55 or pot illegal. But I would willingly drive 55 if it meant that their would be less people weaving in traffic at 80. I don't feel unsafe when I drive; I feel pissed off when I am stuck in traffic.

    Red light cameras are me trading my freedom to speed without getting a ticket for the freedom to get home without some asshole slowing me down by getting in an accident.

    This is if they reduce accidents.

    If they don't then they are me not speeding in exchange for a reduced tax load.

    Except this is more like if Apple went to the factory and said, "We're Apple, would you please make us some of the iPods you have been making". and then calling the police. I know I would personally be upset with them for doing that.

    Red-light cameras (not exactly the same)my my house have reduced people running red-lights by over 95%.

    here is some evidence.

    The significance of this is that pedestrians were dieing almost monthly at the intersections because of people running the light and if the cameras work as hoped it will save the city millions of dollars in building pedestrian bridges.

    If speed cameras cause a dramatic reduction in accidents not only will it save strangers lives, it will save me insurance money and time (I lose at least an hour a week of my life due to accidents). I am not convinced they would work though and don't want them personally. There is also the issue that most people think running a red-light is bad, but speeding is OK. So I can imagine people would be very upset with speed cameras.

    Though a slightly different genre, doesn't Guild Wars (and expansions) try to fix the whole level thing?

    I think part of the problem though is that if you don't get way powerful then there is a risk of not feeling accomplishment.

    For example look at Civilization vs Colonization. Without the large and quickly expanding tech tree the game can feel much slower.

    By conforming to rule #2 you can help spur both French and US nationalism in a humorous way. By pointing out that everyone is fucked up with fascists making inroads into the political system you are simply spreading misery and understanding.

    I don't think that's true.

    It has caching off by default for devices that show up in the removable media section (flash-drives) but on for things that show up in the Hard Disk Drives section (USB Hard-drives).

    I have had stuff "corrupt" on a few occasions, but chkdisk fixed it every time.

    2 1500 W heaters have reduced my heating bill signifigantly (by heating 2 rooms and not 7 + a stairway and hallway).

    I now only run the heat when it is under 25F outside and for an hour before bed to heat up the bedroom and make sure my pipes don't bust.

    yes,

    One has built in spell checking and autocompletes with things you typed in.

    The other auto completes with places you've been. Having the distinction is useful.

    Also for sites I regularly goto I use the address bar (auto completes and goes to the right place) other times I type it in google for the spelling, blurbing and related sites that come up.

    For example searching mysql.com and clicking the download link is quicker than going to mysql.com and finding the download link.

    Of course when screen is a precious resource (as in OLPC) other choices can be made.

    Wal-Mart should have wii-motes on Sunday (get there when they open though) according to ps3seeker.com/wii

    I have found the rumors to be accurate. I will say I lined up at target last Sunday. they opened at 8:00am and by 7:30 all 42 Wii's were accounted for. They had classic controllers and nun chucks, but no wii-motes.

    I can second this.

    My limited experience involves working at a print shop.

    We had a customer who designed a game and has now quit his job on the proceeds. He spent 1000's of dollars building prototypes over the course of a year or two. Unfortunately I don't know what he did with publishers or I could really be helpful.

    I really doubt he would have gone anywhere without the nice look. he publishers probably get 1000's of pitches a month, make yours easier to publish (more complete) and they may actually look at it.

    I too wonder why a store would do that.

    they advertised in the circular they would have them, but none of us in line even went to the rest of the store, so there was no non Wii sales at all. They also did nott have any extra wii-motes 9only nunchuck, and classic) so it was all kind of stupid.

    On the other hand i was able to get my litttle brother a Wii because of it, so I shouldn't complain. Wal-mart s doing it for next week too, so that is pretty much all major electronics retailers (no sears or k-mart) that think it is a good idea.

    Where I am Target had held the Wii for over a week and a half (as in no new ones coming in) and then sold them all last Sunday.

    They had 42 in on that Sunday and all of them were accounted for before opening at 8:00 am (though only minutes before).

    Best Buy, and Circuit City both had done the same thing, when I drove by at 8:30 both had long lines hours before opening (11 and 10).

    So at least in my area the Wii is still in very short supply.

    Is this a jab at the DS lite and SP?

    because the original GBA sucked, so I didn't get it. They HAD to come out with a new one that was visible on a subway, or airplane (I baught an SP right after it came out because I had a 14 hour plane ride the next day).

    The DS was to big to fit in my pocket, so I never got one. The DS lite is much better so I have it (though I still use the SP if I am not wearing a coat).

    The people who had their needs bet by the GBA or the DS lost nothing by the new version coming out, and had a lot more time to play on their systems then I did.

    There was also no forced upgrade; as both systems are functionally the same (though I still think the orignial GBA was useless).

    Unless all the libertarian types have dummy accounts to mod themselves up.

    I will say that I am registered libertarian in hopes that it will encourage the republicans to become more pro small government to see registered libertarians. This will help to balance my rabbid liberalism (in the modern sense) and allow for their to no longer be 2 big government parties.

    But my heat (gas radiators)is far more cost effective than heating with electricity. Also, if I were to heat with electricity I would use radiators or fan units on the ground instead of on the ceiling.

    Electric heat 2 inches from the ceiling or 3 feet away but pointing up (floor lamps) is a very expensive way to heat.

    I have not played Z:TP on the GC, but I have played All the other 3D Zelda's and I found shaking the nunchuck WAY easier than doing a 360 on the control stick.

    Of course I have been playing Rayman Gunstar heroes, and have been too lazy to get up and stick Zelda back in.

    My favorite thing about playing Zelda on the Wii though is that I can sit back and chill with the controllers 18 inches apart. Normally I lean forward while tense.

    Rayman is definatly worth the money though (as are Gunstar heroes, and original Zeleda (even though I own it twice).

    Your right, the state shouldn't make me stop. But someone should make me pay the real monetery damage I am costing other people. And I think the government levying a tax is better than an angry mob beeting it out of me.

    Perhaps the same is true with light bulbs, because the cost of energy dependance is much higher than the cost of electricity, and global warming wil allegidly be very expensive to (UK report). I really don't actually think it should be a crime to sell non-CF bulbs, but there should be some encouragement to adjust the cost of the regular ones to take into account the long term damage. And I still think banning non-CF bulbs makes more sense than moving DST as an actual solution, and not bullshit.

    I do a lot of damaging things that people should probably stop me from doing. At the very least a lot of what I do is way undertaxed (when taken into account the total cost it has on your life).

    Nintendo said they expected to sell out through the end of the year.

    A lot of people expected their to be a near endless supply. Though Nintendo appears to be shourt on their shipments too (20% or so). When I went to WalMart at midnight of launch I realized that all those people (myself included) that predicted limitless supply were wrong and headed to a Best Buy for opening (after taking a nap).

    The number of people who didn't get a Wii where I was was already in the double digits 2 hours before opening.

    This is ebay. I think the Wii is definatly in higher demand.

    Also a search for Wii and PS3 on ebay show a similar number of auctions even though there are 2-5 times as many Wiis (I think 3-3.5 times personaly). Obciously this is not heavily researched, but it looks like the Wii is far more popular.

    Another possible conclusion is that people are willing to spend $500 -$600 on a console, and the PS3 auctions just don't cut it.

    I have some expert poopers in my house and not once has the low flush (1.6g) toilet clogged. Some times there is smearing that requires a second flush (ready before done washing hands). It took some time but there is new toilet tech.
