    For snappy I had to install Linux. Or RAM. My G4 Mini is plenty snappy for what it is, though of course I much prefer the MacBook Pro. I also run 10.4 on a G4 dual 867 and it runs just fine. RAM is definitely the key here.

    The wildest thing is that the rings are about 280,000 km wide, but less than one thick. Measured how? I understand the "thick" measurement but is "wide" from the core of the planet outward? Or all the way around the planet?

    With Linux, ANY HARDWARE will do.
    I can run the latest Compiz thingamajigs with Gutsy on my top of the line desktop or Puppy on my 10 year old laptop.
    There is no equivalent on the Mac to this.
    Sure there is. It's called Linux. I really don't get you're point - the discussion is about hardware, not the OS, and you can run Linux on the hardware whether it was produced by Apple, Dell, or whoever. The price discussion is about whether Apple hardware is overpriced compared to the same hardware from other companies. The ability to install puppies on your 10 year old laptop is just not relevant.

    Preferably on a quad core mac pro. It loads fast! Even on my dual 867 MHz G4, it loads pretty fast. But I agree that putting it on the web isn't a good idea.

    The numbering system has nothing to do with this. Microsoft named it "7" in order to announce that they are finally catching up to MacOS's revolutionary System 7, from 1991. I for one can't wait for Windows to finally get "Balloon Help"!

    yeah but the interface is not one of those advantages. Traktor is cool and actually very advanced in terms of features but it requires newer hardware (whereas my 12" powerbook g4 is fine with serato) and the interface is weak. The serato interface is amazingly well-done, despite its lesser functionality. I have both because I bought Traktor scratch first and then didn't trust it at a real gig, so I wound up buying serato right before the gig, and I am glad I did.
