    Before changing my systems to Linux I used mercury and pmail.
    I even used the mailinglist features with automated subscribe/unsubscribe.
    Scripting some stuff in it was easy, and there was a huge userbase.

    They have had many problems and had to take down the grid or restrict logins.
    I know LindenLabs is doing their be best. But if these problems keep appearing, they are going to loose customers.

    Dunno if it hit it yet but yesterday it had almost 25.000 citizens 'in-world' it was floating around 24.500
    And Teleporting and or moving around was almost impossible ..

    It has had a lot of media attention lately, all over the world.
    Wish they would upgrade their servers, to handle the load of users. Or at least get a EU Server farm.

    Right ... sounds more like a HP-UX or HP related product to me ...

    You can't install this patch unless you install that patch ..
    and if you do install this patch and installed that-other-patch-before-this-patch ...
    well, you hosed your system...
    which means ... you have to reinstall everything ...

    How much fun it is to patch a HP machine ...

    Or hack your VoIP box so you can just 'drop' their connection, when they try to make a call to you....

    Hmmmzzz maybe a loopback to their own IP would be nice to ...no, make that tenfold :-)

    You could have a look at :

    They have a distributed network.

    Also a while ago I saw a document describing a form of P2P network with Blocklists. Dunno the URL anymore but it was a kind of nice idea, it included Signatures. So that the network could not be injected with false information.

    But from that point of view you could also use web of trust structure.

    Most Anti-Spam sites use servers located at diffrent sites/parts of the internet.
