    Why? My phone works fine. I travel a lot - Las Vegas, Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, San Antonio, TX and a lot of small towns in-between. My phone works everywhere I go. It even worked on a recent trip to Mexico (but I had to pay roaming). I have a plan with nationwide roaming, free long distance, 350 anytime minutes, 3000 night and weekend minutes, voice mail and more for about $40 a month.

    Every time there is a story posted about cell technology - a lot of people post things like "I can take my phone from Berlin, Germany to Oslo, Norway and it works fine." Good for you. You went 500 miles and your phone still worked and you got to pay roaming charges. I travel from my home (Bloomington, Indiana) to San Antonio, TX (a distance of 1200 miles) a couple times a year to visit family and my phone works fine and I don't pay any roaming charges. I also go to Las Vegas at least once a year for work (a distance of 1850 miles from home) and my phone works great and still no roaming charges. For the most part Americans don't mind that their phone standard is incompatible with the rest of the world, because we don't go there. That isn't meant to start a flame war about how Americans don't know that the rest of the world exists. It is just a simple fact that this is a very large country that is separated by large distances from most other countries.

    What I am saying is I know from experience that mental health treatment doesn't work that way. That would be viewed as validating their delusion and it (in general) wouldn't happen. This was the first thing they taught us in orientation - don't feed their delusions.

    The best way to describe "modern" mental health treatment is "tough love". They would force the patient to deal with the pain in a way that fits into societal norms - which does not include speaking Klingon. The cost of mental health doesn't usually enter into the determination of treatments.

A person that came into a hospital that would only speak Klingon would be in for a quick trip to the padded room. After a diagnosis of probably Psychosis or Schizoaffective Disorder (and more than likely a secondary of Personality Disorder) they would be prescribed an appropriate medication (either an antipsychotic like Haldol or a mood regulator like Prozac or lithium) and a few weeks of inpatient treatment and counseling. The last thing that they would do would be to play into their delusion.

    Once you swipe a template from a working COBOL program (to get the Identification Division and the beginning of the Environment Division) and get everything in the correct columns it starts flowing pretty well. The thing that I liked most about COBOL was that if you had a flowchart it was really easy to convert that to a working program. I should add that I haven't worked with COBOL for several years (before the OO and intactive COBOL efforts).

    The one language that I can say without a doubt that I hated was JCL. For those of you that don't know JCL stands for job control language.

    You don't need to download a movie in 5 seconds to rent a move over the net. You only need to go slightly faster than real time. Here is the state code from Indiana.

    IC 35-42-1-1
    Murder
    Sec. 1. A person who:
    (1) knowingly or intentionally kills another human being;
    (2) kills another human being while committing or attempting to commit arson, burglary, child molesting, consumer product tampering, criminal deviate conduct, kidnapping, rape, robbery, or carjacking;

    Here is the code for involuntary manslaugher.

    IC 35-42-1-4
    Involuntary manslaughter
    Sec. 4. (a) As used in this section, "child care provider" means a person who provides child care in or on behalf of:
    (1) a child care center (as defined in IC 12-7-2-28.4); or
    (2) a child care home (as defined in IC 12-7-2-28.6);
    regardless of whether the child care center or child care home is licensed.
    (b) As used in this section, "fetus" means a fetus that has attained viability (as defined in IC 16-18-2-365).
    (c) A person who kills another human being while committing or attempting to commit:
    (1) a Class C or Class D felony that inherently poses a risk of serious bodily injury;
    (2) a Class A misdemeanor that inherently poses a risk of serious bodily injury; or
    (3) battery;
    commits involuntary manslaughter, a Class C felony. However, if the killing results from the operation of a vehicle, the offense is a Class D felony.

    (e) If:
    (1) a child care provider recklessly supervises a child; and
    (2) the child dies as a result of the child care provider's reckless supervision;
    the child care provider commits involuntary manslaughter, a Class D felony.

    In the state of Indiana - causing a death while in commission of another crime is involuntary manslaughter. A charge of murder requires premeditation of the act of murder. So by your example - if I walk into a convince store with a gun and some old guy dies of a heart attack there is no premeditation for murder. Premeditation could be anything from I planned for three weeks that I was going to kill someone to I decided 5 seconds before I pulled the trigger.
