Oktoberfest is more outside Germany than in Germany itself.
Because in Germany, there is only one, the Oktoberfest in Munich. No other town would call their autumn fest "Oktoberfest", because a) they have already one with another name and b) theirs is much older than the Oktoberfest, which was practically invented yesterday (just over 200 years old!).
For instance, the Cranger Kirmes is more than 500 years old (starting in 1441 AD), the Rheinkirmes too (1435 AD), and the Bremer Freimarkt gets close to 1000 years (first documented 1035 AD).
But this doesn't work if a large group works together for a patent, when you have a lab with dozens of people developing and testing different setups and finally settle down to the design that makes the most sense.
Moreso, if in a company a branch doesn't get profitable, you try to sell it to someone who might get it running or close it down. But the U.S. can't just go and sell California (back to Mexico?) or close down Connecticut.
They can do that. If Google does not play by their rules, they can put penalties on Google or even exclude Google from doing business in the EU. Sure, Google can still do business in other legislations, but no revenue will come to them from the EU.
I only remember one where the result was, that yes, playing violent video games increases your aggressivity. The effect in size was comparable to drinking a pot of coffee.
Actually, there are no European companies trying to compete with Google and failing. There are no European companies even trying. (I think, the last one was Telefónica, which bought Lycos years ago, but put it to rest in 2008). So which are those imaginary corporations you are talking about?
Unlike Americans, Europeans are worried about both corporations and the government spying on them. In Germany, Data Rendition laws are suspended for now, and in Austria, they didn't pass the parliament for now.
Fiberoptic communication, with such strange things as helical polarization would bake their noodles, not to mention such curious things as the GPS network. (Einstein didn't come along until much later. GPS wouldn't work without SR, due to earth's frame dragging.)
I wouldn't count on that. SR was pretty much in place from a mathematical point of view with Hendrik Antoon Lorentz' Ether Theory of 1892, building on a framework by Hermann Minkowski and finetuned by Henri Poincaré. Until today we learn the Lorentz transformations in SR - and they predate the SR by 13 years. The only thing H.A.Lorentz didn't get right was the Ether. He still believed he needed a medium for lightwaves to propagate. But for calculations, Ether Theory and SR are equivalent, Albert Einstein's theory is just much more elegant.
I beg to differ. I've grown up in a house built in 1894 with an indoor toilette for each appartement (albeit not part of the appartement itself, but with a separate entrance from the corridor). So yes, the concept of an indoor outhouse was no "prediction for the future" in 1889. And the first sewage plant in my home country was built in 1882, so no futural concept either.
You also don't burn down the stadium of the opponent you play in your next game, if you lose. But you will still have people in your fan crowd demanding exactly that.
My personal stance is quite similar to this one:
Religion is like a penis. It's fine to have one. It's fine to be proud of it. But, please don't pull it out and wave it around in public. And never ever force it down the throat of my children.
You either didn't read the article or you didn't get the point of it. It was nothing she posted or put in her profile on Facebook, that outed her to her parents. So none of your points is valid in this case.
Actually, she didn't need to post anything about her sexual preferences on Facebook. But someone of her friend added her to a Queer Choir group, which then showed up in her profile, visible to all her friends, including her parents.
He did manage to break the sound barrier. You didn't manage to get the sound barrier right. (Just some hints: 768 mph is the sound barrier at 1 bar pressure and 20C ambient temperature.)
We can try to make the same observations. If we come to the same conclusions, the observations might be for real.
Which god? There are so many of them. I don't have time and resources to hate each of them, so to be fair, I decided to just ignore them all.
There are societies with religion being a minority phenomenon. Slovenia, Czech and the eastern part of Germany have majorities without any religion.

So which corporations are you talking about? Name one big European search engine or video portal!

Same with me. I ordered mine at Element14, and about a week later, I got it.
Apparently, there are kangaroos in Austria too.

Someone please tell that to the <fundamentalist group de jour>.
Just because you don't subscribe to the ideology of an organisation you don't call for its elimination.
And still - just because you praise an organisation for its stand in a conflict, you don't need to subscribe to her ideology.
She didn't tell Facebook anything related to her sexual preferences. And she still got outed. That's the whole point of the article.

The capsule is made from polycarbonates, not from metal. Thus it is just bright, not shiny.
I didn't like the Glass Bead Game too much. It was, what it was describing inside: l'art pour l'art, a glass bead game for a book.
