But the company concerned can't do anything about people downloading the source while it was still under GPL and now redistributing it or modify it on their own. Those people got a copy under GPL, and this entitles them to use the copy to their will as long as they comply with the GPL.
It's a little bit more complicated. The copyright owner can actually demand that all derivated works are destroyed, that means that all Minerva IPTV-boxes are to be destroyed, sold or not, and that Minerva ceases to sell new boxes.
But the GPL protects the actual owners of a Minerva box from having their item destroyed, because the GPL entitles them to use the (derivate) work of art as long as they abide to the license (which they do, because they don't resell the boxes and thus they don't distribute GPL code any further).
Actually it was meant to be the distance from the North Pole to the Equator on the Longitude going through Paris. This distance was meant to be exactly 10,000,000 metres long.
That's bullshit. Why had the U.S. never invaded itself, because it was supporting the definitely terrorist Contras in Nicaragua? Why had the U.S. not invaded Qatar, whose Minister of the Interior was an outspoken al-Qaida-supporter? Instead it actually hired the services of the very same minister to support their military base for the war against Iraq. Why has it never invaded Pakistan, whose intelligence corps is still providing substantive help to al-Qaida?
Basicly the U.S. was either beating a straw man and then wondered why this didn't help anything against al-Qaida, or the whole al-Qaida thing was just a front to go to war.
And then the U.S. is wondering why everyone in the arab world thinks that the U.S. is a loony with just too much weapons at hand.
...it's cloth and heatshrink (probably PVC) instead of vinyl... And what does PVC stand for? Poly-Vinyl-Chloride. So PVC and vinyl are the same stuff: polymerized Vinylchloride n(CH2=CHCl) -> -CH2-CHCl-CH2-CHCl-...
EULAs are routinely invalid at least in German, because with buying something the only contract you have is the one with the seller. The EULA thus ist a contract with a party that was not part of the sale and thus not enforceable. The German term is "Erschoepfungsgrundsatz", and means about the same as the First Sale Doctrine.
It is different if the EULA is already part of the AGB (Allgemeine Geschaeftsbedingungen, General Business Conditions) of the seller. But then the seller has to prove that the EULA was known at the time of the sale to be valid. It is different with downloads, because there you deal directly with the manufacturer of the software or hardware in question. Those EULAs might actually be valid contracts.
If there is plenty of supply, why does no one try to profiteer from it? None of the oil producing countries is ramping up oil production. They don't profit from speculation, they profit from actually selling the production at a high margin. Is someone maybe hoarding the oil to cut the supply and artificially shortening the available oil? No. Oil reserves stayed the same in the last two years.
So what speculation is actually happen? What market manipulation is actually happen? As far as I see it: Oil gets drilled, sold, and consumed directly. And the price is just the balance between supply and demand. There are no points where speculative actions can be suspected.
There is just not enough supply. Deal with it. There is no bubble that can burst.
You basically made my point - Ghandi & MLK outright broke the law to get their point across. No, they outright didn't broke the law. That was the point! Ghandi's campaign for instance was based on the "Imagine, it is war, but no one goes there" idea. And MLK's idea was based on Ulysses Grant's aphorism: "The best way to get a law removed is to enforce it."
I don't think GWB ever had the intention to test the Power of Office to get them removed;)
If I look at the Greek gods, they just seem to be an ancient version of Superman Comics. They are not so much a "Great Spirit", more an endless soap opera with some supernatural abilities thrown in to get over the weak spots of the plot.
Completely different are the German gods. They didn't demand loyality. Whenever a god failed on you, you weren't thinking "God is testing your faith", you were just switching allegiances. Odin not helping you win? Next time you pray to Freya. That will show him!
Another completely different type of gods are the Slavic ones. They are all in one person. Cerny Bog and Bily Bog (Black and White God) are bitter enemies to each other and fighting each other to death. But both are in fact the same person. Whenever one of both dies he's reincarnated as the other one. The Midday Wife is both Death Angel and Bringer of Eternal Luck. She is lovely and fearsome. And she is one person with the Evening, the Morning and the Midnight, who themselves are three sisters. Pretty confusing, right?
No. Gods don't have to be those almighty, evercaring, all-loving Greater Spirits. Gods are whatever the people who created them wanted them to be.
Not necessarily. Some people invent God just for fun. Hey, I even tried to write some kind of Creation mythos just to check if I can do it (and yes, it worked).

Not really... The target group is another. Cars are owned by people who need something to drive around. Many SUVs are owned by people who need to drive around;)
So, yes, I'm still saying that _some_ CO2 is removed in the process. Only if the total amount of living matter increases. CO2 doesn't stay trapped in dead bodies. It is released pretty fast. You obviously didn't grow up in a rural area. Otherwise you would know that CO2 clouds lunger wherever something decays. It's actually dangerous to fall into a cesspit, not because you might be drowning or die of disgust, but because above the surface there is a layer of CO2 (which is slightly heavier than normal air) in which you will suffocate.
And yes, also in a cemetary the CO2 is released. Bodies don't get buried in airthight containers, but in coffins, which decay themselves, and the CO2 slowly goes through the earth and into the air.
Well, yes, but at the same time those plants absorb some CO2 out of the atmosphere to grow. And then you eat them, shit it, and it's not going back into the atmosphere. No, this CO2 goes straight back into the atmosphere: fungus and bacteria feed on them, and release the CO2 when they digest it and turn it back into soil.
As soon as a living dies all the trapped CO2 is released during the deceasing of the corpse. To actually trap it forever you have to close it off from any oxygene, then it might turn into coal or oil again.
The problem is: The process works for the Earth as a whole, but is catastrophic for the individual.
Most of our technology is used to create a non changing environment for us: steady food and water supply, steady temperatures without summer or winter extremes, steady health etc.pp...
We are not very good equipped with technology to deal with constant change. And global warming, followed by a global cooling might be complicated to deal with.
So what were they actually hosting there?

There is an old saying: "Once lied, never be trusted again".
Microsoft now gets bitten by that.
... wait for the next phase!
To be better than an industry that is actually losing money it is sufficient just to sit around and do nothing :)

For those on the Right Wing, this means Matthew 7:16: "Ye shall know them by their fruit."
I love Henry Kissinger for being very honest about this: "Of course he is a rogue. But he is our rogue!"

You can't get anyone to play by the rules without commiting yourself to said rules.

So this is another lesson in Computer Security 101: "No one likes Backups, but everyone likes Restore"?
Paul Krugman, economist himself, begs to differ.

Germany has also about the same number of inhabitants (it's actually a bit more). So your point being?
That just because the U.S. keeps their terrorists offshore, so they don't taint the statistics.
