Steering is actually pretty easy, one solution, OTTOMH, is to just build two motors instead of one. Any difference in the speed of the two, either by different rpms or densities of fluid, would cause it to turn. Though I do agree with you in the fact that the easiest way to send thes on their way is to let them into the wind (or bloodstream, etc) and let them find their own way by huge numbers and dumb luck.
Not as far fetched as you would think. The guy who did this hack's website says that something along those lines is in store for the next revision of the software. Personally, I'd love to find the original voice-over person/program, and use that to create my own psycho-furby.
Though know they won't develop sentience (can you imagine the horror of that), the furbys will becoe an interesting geek toy, with such coolosities as mp3 playing and small dog scaring.
Damn ozzies, always getting those interesting inventions first. I, like everyone else, has had times when I'm trying to find the restroom before all hell breaks loose, and am usually sporting some kind of IP enabled device. Something like this means that I'll always know where the closest can is, instead of simply praying for the best.
As the guy who just 20 minutes ago registered fuckhumanity.org (no href, 'cuz it won't have content for a couple o' days) I say to thee Fuck You. The first ammendment applies to everyone, whether you like it or not. Besides, I consider fuck to be a perfectly good word to express my strong discourse at something; I usually say it when I need to release some steam, since I hate smiting people.
Dunno if this is what you're talking 'bout, but you can create color adjustment profiles where you can tweak the amounts of colors, brightness, gamma, and contrast you send out to a printer in the latest betas of the GIMP (since 1.21, IIRC). Don't know how accurate the results truly are, as most of the stuff I do doesn't have a need to be truly color accurate.
At first, it just seemed like they want a little bit of flash and a soundbite, with the possibility of having a lot of flash later. Then I got reading the press release, and found this little beauty:
Others rely on "trust-marks" or a seal designating that the site abides by a given standard. Problems with these approaches have been that 1) ratings can never be complete nor comprehensive and depend heavily on the tools used, and 2) adherence to trust-mark standards cannot be enforced.
Haven't these guys ever heard of a contract? Someone infringes on your service mark, and you can lay the smackdown upon them in the court system. These guys obviously just want a little more ink in the newspaper than would be given if they created a seal of approval.

You mean the weasel? Thanks a lot. That only leaves 1...2...3...all the candidates left
The homecoming king is a ceremonial title, he gets his picture in the school yearbook, he gets a boost to his ego, and that's that.
I'll have to check into how he won. I may be able to get some info from someone who goes to Costa on how he won. Perhaps there was enough of a group who decided WTF.
This is an issue I'm definately mailing a letter off to the editor (after all the grokking by the grammar czecher, spell checker, etc, of course.) If anyone else is interested in pounding off a letter/email, their letters to the editor can be emailed to letters@dailybreeze.com or mailed off to:

My point exactly. He did the one thing that no one wants the outcasts to do, speak out and beat them at their own game.
i hope this get's more coverage so that his message get's out further.
Exactly why I posted it. I figured this would be one of the best places to disseminate the paranoia of difference that pervades our "tolerant" society.
See my above comment. Basically, there is little that has changed the disease, most people are only interested in treating the symptoms. The cure to this problem, accepting people's right to be themselves as long as they don't harm others, seems a long way off.
First a little background. The community that this occurred in, Manhattan Beach, is an upper middle to wealthy class (entry level home around here is >$300,000) neighborhood. It is predominantly liberal democrat, and rather accepting, or so I thought. Earlier today,
I read this article in the Daily Breeze (the local paper), and realized that people still don't want to accept people who make a stand against the system, and won't anytime soon. Personally, I feel what the kid did in the article did was laudable, and the only reason that the school suspended him was because he made a point.
I fear that another Columbine will be coming soon, and that there is very little we can do about it.
Hrmm...waidaminute...I nix my old idea and propose skywriting. You could rent a few planes, and paint the sky with the source code. It's not distributed in the US, and anyone with a digital camera can just snap away. Or am I missing another key piece of this puzzle?
Hrmm...Now I am not a circumvention specialist, but it would seem to me that if this is true, then you could get around it by having one of our Canadian or Mexican friends stand over the border and throw CD-ROMS/floppies/your favorite media with DeCSS over onto our opressive soil they call the United States of America.
Well, I't been in there since 7.1, maybe even 7.0 (I've done too many installs of software that I can't remember), so my bet's that it'll be in there in the final version. Thank ghod we've still got some humor in this world.
That would be against their business model. I have set up computer systems for single guys and what is the first thing they ask? How do you get pr0n? If they were to provide that on the aol discs they'd probably lose at least 25% of the market as people will just wait for the next months junk mail, ahem pr0nfest, ahem frisbee, ahem aol disk. The nullsoft hackers wouldn't be allowed to do something that devestating, nullsoft is there to only give the illusion of a free spirited company.
You know, I haven't had such a good laugh in a long time. That page is so f*cking biased it's funny. A few choice quotes:
Protection of Retirement Benefits: Right-wing Justices would allow businesses to deliberately deceive workers about the solvency of a benefit plan in order to save the business money.
Instead the left-wing justices would allow government to deliberately decieve workers about the solvency of a benefit plan (social security) in order to take more money
Another Beauty:
The Brady Bill: Another 5-4 vote struck down the part of the Brady Act that called on state officials to conduct background checks on people buying handguns until a national system was in place. Justice Thomas again argued that Congress has no authority to pass gun control legislation, and would go even farther than the majority in restricting Congress' authority.
Hrmm...government restricting libertys...right to keep and bear arms...double standard, nah...
And no, I'm not voting for Dubya, he supports as many idiotic government intrusions as the Democrats. I'm voting for Harry Browne.
Looking at the messages so far, I simply see bad jokes, etc, but none of the real issues. Why is it that people will steal artifacts that have quite a bit of both emotional, and sentimental value to much of the world? Perhaps just as important, why do people ransom such devices and threaten to destroy them?
It just doesn't make sense to me, perhaps someone could enlighten me.
No, it means Make a Mate Fast. Most of the schemes in there are of the highly illegal pyramid types, and will get you thrown in the clink where you get to be Bubba's new mate.
Unfortunately, in this day and age more and more countries are in the goddamn pockets of long-reaching corps. DeCSS was written in Norway, and they still stole the kid's computer for alledgedly violating the DM fucking CA. I cringe for the day that I see coming very soon where democracy and capitalism are thrown away for the "benevolent" corporate dictators.
It's from the movie Pi. Very odd movie, very good movie. Rent it, buy it, or steal it, depending on your mood, but watch it nonetheless.

Sure, I think that typosquatting is sneaky, devious, etc, but the solution that the "big" players want, swiping any domain that's even close to theirs for free, is wrong. How many people dial wrong phone numbers, etc? Just about everybody, and you get over it rather quickly. It's not a big deal, you just need to double check the url you typed in before you hit the return key.
