Seems to me he's saying it's a problem for Governments and Institutions, transparency is always good for the people. Oh yea, maybe transparency can be a problem for the Church as we learn more and more about what went on there....

They made a statement about new technologies, I hope the intent of the new space strategy is focused more on sending probes in the solar system rather than humans to Mars etc...

I knew the gig was up when I get my haircut, (I lived in the Upper East Side, NYC), my barber told me how she had made x amount of dollars that day trading such and such a tech stock, a tip from one of her customers. I should have went home and sold right away, I knew it was too good to be true.
Moral of the story "stop loss", and learn an important lesson to fight another day.
Yep, I remember going to meetings @ Doubleclick, they had just moved into their new building. People were starting companies w/ an idea and some funding...it was great, until reality knocked the door down.
I remember seeing a flashlight advertised that worked by shaking it. Anyone can "file" a patent, getting awarded one is completely different story, they have to demonstrate something "not obvious" in this.
As a side note, I hope his roll expands and he can tackle other information display issues in our gov't. I would love to see a Tufte graphic regarding our taxes, spending, deficit and long term debt (including who we are borrowing from?)...
Tufte is amazing. I expect he'll be able to convey in an easy to understand display what is happening w/ our recovery effort. If your a bit skeptical of him, you've got to read his books

Yea, I had a bad customer experience w/ newegg. I bought a printer/scanner, and it came with the side kicked in. I figured it was a disgruntled employee. Still it took them awhile to take it back and they wanted me to outlay more cash to buy a replacement while the "refund" worked it's way through the system, I mean you've got to be kidding me.

This is really great, I'm hoping they use my area in CA to test.
