"Politically charged sites that I tend to discount on principle"
What sites would those be?
It seems to me that an increasing number of people consider those to be any site that doesn't resonate with their preconceived notions.
Far better to let them Google, potentially get sites on both sides of the argument and, possibly reach an informed opinion.
However, I won't be sitting patiently holding my breath.
The issue is not IF fracking will release more methane to the atmosphere but HOW MUCH - and whether it will cause as much or more warming than the CO2 it displaces.
Simply pushing hard on the economy won't work. Globalization means companies will keep moving to the lowest-wage, lowest-regulation, most-corrupt countries. Forcing them to prove that they meet a minimum standard, e.g. Fair Trade, of worker treatment and manufacturing standards as well as a percentage of local production is the better way.
Correction: I should have said "a much stronger warming effect than the EQUIVALENT amount of CO2". The amount of methane in the atmosphere is much less than that of CO2
Unfortunately, all that fracking and natgas usage is increasing the amount of methane being released to the atmosphere and that has a much stronger warming effect than CO2 in the short term.
Do the police have the same attitude towards the general public? Sure there a lot of bad people but what about the 299,000,000 that don't get in trouble and just want to be left alone?
Not ocean but lake - Cornell U, since 2000 uses water from Cayuga Lake and Enwave Energy in Toronto since 2004 for up to 34 mil sq ft of downtown office space
I'm sure a great many people wouldn't give a damn. Jobs sold the Apple faithful on his design concept but I don't like the size and thickness of iPhones. The proportions of the Galaxy S4 fit my hand better but felt too skinny and flimsy until I put a Gelato case on it.
You haven't been keeping up - they are way beyond that.
Often in the same sentences where they'll criticize AGW-proponents for being overly alarmists, they'll then warn that we really need to worry about global cooling which may have already begun and will wipe out food crops and poor people will die.
I guess it's hard to say when a breakthrough will happen. Progress tends to be very incremental. When I was much younger, I was promised that flying cars, flat screen TVs you could hang like a painting and fusion would be "a few years" at most.
Took over 30 yrs just for the TVs, fusion, er, well, "somewhat more than a few years" and counting and the flying cars, well, I suppose we could make them happen very soon if you've got megabucks to spend.
If you're moderate, how would you know if there are no guilt-ridden conservatives? And the question wasn't "are YOU a guilt-ridden conservatives?" but "are there ANY guilt-ridden conservatives?".
Of course, it was a rhetorical question, of which I'm sure you were aware unless you're not very perceptive.
If you're right, I think the equivalent for Liberal Guilt would be Conservative Denial. In America, that would be the about slavery. One person I conversed with ( here on Slashdot?? ) a couple years back even blamed slavery in the US on black people because of a Virginia case where one black man sued for another to be awarded to him as his personal slave in perpetuity.

A few moment's searching will turn up lots of links. Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, etc "fracking methane warming"
All networks have their dipshits; Fox has much more than any other single network.
Unfortunately, so do far too many others.

+2 Insightful

Which gets spent in local economies. Better here than over there.

Let's get Congress and 5th graders ( is that redundant? ) to conduct peer review on scientific papers.
But Hiroshima was caused by men.
Got it.

You could BUY carbon?
We had to set fire to the school so all the kids could have something to write with.
Been hearing so many wonderful things about exotic forms of carbon but when do I get something I can buy ( at a reasonable price )?

No. That's "a fool and his money are soon parted". Are the gamblers being dragged bodily onto the reservations or did they happen upon them by chance?
Your ancestors are Chinese?
Wrong.

Well you started it AC. So let's see, their ancestors crossed the Bering Strait 20,000 years ago. Where were your ancestors back then?
I guess you have made a very strong case for Africa for Africans since THOSE were "always there".
But no-one else has a historic claim to their lands, right?
Why do you assume he's a liberal? Are there no guilt-ridden conservatives?
