About 5 years or so ago, abandoned the idea of a home network with all my data on my own servers. At the time it was more about geek cred. After one privacy rape after another, I think I'm done with The Man's servers. Only thing holding me back now is waiting out my Android phone contract (with its Google dependencies).
Our law enforcement agencies seem to have a focus that reflects politically-motivated trends and not "consumer" law enforcement. If the focus was back on plain old footwork, I think we'd see quick and real results. My girlfriend is a manager at a large change store and they've got habitual thieves who get busted, get processed, get released, and come right back at them sometimes the next day! One repeat offender didn't get the hammer dropped on him until he tried fighting a plain-clothes security guy while fleeing with merchandise.
A few years ago, I spotted a few guys trying to break into a neighbors car. I was literally *RIGHT NEXT TO THE POLICE STATION* as in I could *see* the police station across the street from my house. They never even bothered to show up. I eventually scared them off, but approaching 3 car thieves isn't something I plan on repeating.
I think his point was that if you're suspicious enough to pay someone to catch your spouse cheating, you already know they are and you also know it's not something you can forgive.
I pay for music because of the "insightful" fellows like yourself who think they're fighting the man by downloading stuff for free. Manipulative contracts is a separate issue from compensating artists. Yes, deal with the contract issue, but don't stop paying artists to spite their corporate connections.
...and, make sure your employees KNOW that their attempts to access records are logged. Continually cross-reference that info with relevant investigations.
Back in college, I had a friend in an undergrad pre-med program who was doing some sort of work in the local hospital. He actually told me, unsolicited, that if I was interested in a girl he'd look her up to see if she had any STDs (I never took him up on the offer). He also wasn't shy about pointing out who had what whenever he spotted people in public. At the time, I just thought it was creepy but I wonder if that was illegal 15 years ago?
Never could stand that guy. What I saw of his show looked like surviva-sensationalism. I always preferred Survivor Man who was by no means without flaw. Rather than drinking his own piss to get a reaction out of the viewers, he build a urine still and drank purified water. I-am-not-a-mountain-man, but I always thought that urine was filled with toxins and drinking your own would be as detrimental as drinking sea water.

Bill Gates On Energy

T. Boone "Swiftboater bank account" Pickens was pushing a...ahem...revolutionary new energy solution for this country that just so happened to rely on his vast natural gas holdings. I take any commentary from a vested representative with a grain of salt.
I got duped into assigning my gmail login to YouTube which I didn't consider would bind the two accounts. Next time I logged in, I found out that Google had scraped my email account and started showing me "possible friends" videos. Although they claim the default is privacy on your end, I deleted that account and set up another anonymous one to use. But, now I have to do this login dance to switch between accounts every time I go to either one.
An 8-year old can't walk into a theater playing "Deep Throat" and by sensible regulation of airing times for rated content, isn't going to see Skinemax pornos on TV at the typical waking hours for that age. I don't see how slapping content ratings on video games is any different. For those of you for this ruling, how do you reconcile the fact that children can have access to "adult content"? Putting the burden on parents to monitor their children at absolutely every instance of their lives just isn't practical.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it wasn't about banning music it was about assigning movie-like ratings to music that would require the same kinds of parental supervision on purchase as an R-rated movie.
I learned this as an army brat when my dad was stationed in Italy. Firstly, you had to use these shoe box-sized heavy transformers (that were passed on as soldiers moved back stateside) to transform their 220v power to 120v. But, since they're on 50 hertz instead of 60 like here in the states, clocks would run apparently slower. I suppose I could've asked my parents for a new clock, but I learned how to calculate the time offset and would reset the time (not the alarm) for when I needed to get up.
The US is still using the proverbial 1% doctrine, where if there's a remote chance the bad guys are there...well fire away! The President even admitted the hit rate for the OBL raid was about 55%. What no one seems to give a shit about is if you adopt that 1% chest-thumping policy, you're wrong 99% and killing innocent civilians. In fact, wasn't it the current regional commander who admitted we're killing far more civilians than tur'rists?
I'll be more impressed with these drones if we see them performing as well as manned aircraft in a humane war.
I love anonymity. I've seen two infuriating breaches. First, I just set up a Facebook account and never realized that sites with Facebook login support automagically log you in for comments. So, now an account I finally broke down and set up to allow old friends to find me is another anti-anonymity agent.
Second, Google "duped" me into associating my gmail address with my YouTube account. They then started scraping my email account for addresses and actually dumping videos from these people into my YouTube start page. Thankfully, the reverse isn't enabled by default.
I also wonder about Google profiling my searches. I read a lot of online news and I shudder to think of some of the context searches I've done on anything from murder to terrorism. I can just see that kind of info being used in a court case; "Just look here, three days before that bombing he was googling about C4!"
The great thing about the internet and the forums I love is that everyone is equal behind a keyboard; regardless of age, race, sex, etc.
Are his friends who pointed out the position of SWAT team members really obstructing justice? Do civilians have the right to report on any police actions they observe under the auspices of the 1st amendment?
I'd love to see this decided and define the bounds for silliness like ticketing people who flash headlights as they pass speed traps. Or, laws against video taping cops.

Hmmm...MySQL doesn't support foreign keys so that would explain all the dupes.

He'd need access to the obvious American universities.
Strange how ACs always have insults

When you're at the point of hiring me to follow your spouse, your marriage is already over.

Seeing as you're posting on Slashdot (along with me I might add), that might be the only chance you have to get your hands on some boobies.

Until scientists create a hot sex bot we can fsck, all other steps towards this ultimate goal are of no consequence.

This deal is getting worse by the minute.

Banging gold-digging super models from what I've heard.

You, Sir, never saw the shower scene in Half Baked
Det #1: "At the crime scene L-O-L"
Det #2: "That's a good tweet!"
I'm hoping that the reporters have an off-the-record comment implicating LulzSec. But, nowadays you can't distinguish speculation from journalism.
