  1. Re:it all depends... on Spore Dev Down On the Wii · · Score: 1

I guess it depends what makes a good game. Tetris was great, and didn't require complicated AI. I beg to differ. That damn game always knew which piece I *didn't* want.
  2. -h's & -i's on What UNIX Shell Config Settings Work for Newbies? · · Score: 2, Informative
I basically have these aliases in my .profile. The -h's make everything a bit more readable, and the -i's are there to make sure I don't overwrite something important. You might want to also include "-i" to "rm" so they're at least prompted when deleting something.

    alias ls="ls -h --color=auto"
    alias cp="cp -i"
    alias mv="mv -i"

  3. Mobilepro on Note Taking Devices for Students? · · Score: 2, Informative

I got an old NEC mobilepro for similar requirements. It's small, has a keyboard similiar to handheld keyboards and is nice and cheap. The only problem I had was that it ran WinCE 2.11. That version of CE prevented me from using my wifi card with it. So I installed BSD on it and now it works perfectly for viewing, editing, and transfering files on the go.

  4. Speed Demo People on Doom 3 Gets Info On Demo, Linux, DVD, Xbox · · Score: 5, Funny

"Bah", I say to the alleged 23 hour completion time. Speed Demo people, I expect to see a 1 hr 37 min demo (maximum, of course) one week after Doom 3 hits the shelves.

  5. Cheap prints erode my reputation on Pro Photographers that Will Sell the Copyright? · · Score: 5, Insightful
This is one I've never understood.
    1. Why would I make a crappy print to put in my album?
    2. If a relative made the print, exactly what is the probability they remember the photographer who took the shot?
    3. How many people actually decide on a photographer based on the the quality of the print and not the person's opinion of the photographer?
I'm all for making money, but at least give me a plausible reason why I shouldn't own shots of myself.
  6. Re:Use your bluetooth phone or pda as a remote on Wireless Control for Presentations? · · Score: 5, Informative

Invest in a PDA or phone that has built in bluetooth and use Clicker. From personal experience, it is the best. I have the Sony Ericsson Z600. Not only can I control keynote or powerpoint via the phone, but the notes portion of each slide shows up in the display of the phone. An added bonus is the ability to sync the phone and my powerbook. Clicker does have many other features, though. I have yet to use the proximity controls, but the first time that an incoming call on my cell phone muted iTunes and brought up the caller id information I just about... well.. erhem... I'll leave this clean....

I thought that Linksys was a subsidiary of Cisco... So why should it be surprising that Linksys products are beginning to look like Cisco's. I for one would welcome Cisco products at Linksys prices.

  9. 2 sides to every story on 'They Can Sue, But They Can't Hide' · · Score: 5, Insightful

The problem is that both sides have bad apples. Sure you have some bad doctors that really shouldn't be practicing. But you also have some people who want easy money from malpractice insurance companies who are most likely to settle that to fight it out in court. The idea of lawsuits as a source of incoming isn't patented by SCO as yet.

  11. Video CD's on Bootleg Movies for Download · · Score: 1

A friend of mine w/ a large hard drive and a cd burner spends a lot of his time downloading these movies. They're all in VCD format.. and they're not bad quality.. It doesn't seem to me like they were taken from a camcorder..

Oh, and for those wondering.. most movies are distributed on two cds... With the exception of Titanic which I believe was three...

And.. as for the version of the Matrix floating around... There's no soundtrack and a couple of scenes that were left out.. (The cat is never shown)...
