  1. Re:Do you really have to ask? on Mozilla.org Announces Open Source Calendar · · Score: 1

I haven't really seen any actual development outside Navigator and MailNews, not even on Editor/Composer and the Address Book. Don't forget that the old calendar (Zulu) died and got removed from the tree, somewhere within the last month or so.

Really, we're just seeing something that people actually did care about return from the dead.

Or anyone else for that matter... We don't even have the calendar code for checking in yet. Until OEone gets a good beta made, we've nothing except some uninteresting little side projects (a to-do list and a jotpad).

And then, when we do have the code, and have it checked in, it's pretty much hands off until Moz1.0 anyways. Things like this will keep popping up, probably, but it'll all be sidetracked until we finish the golden milestone.

Anyways, if a calendar/pim isn't enough, there's always supporting the (non-)project mozOffice at http://mozoffice.mozdev.org/ for those of you who are interested.

Still, that's no reason to give up. If I could code reasonably good C++ I'd be helping, but since I can't, I'll be keeping up the advocacy. So could anyone suggest any good cheap books that could help me do C++ well enough to help with Mozilla development?

Me, I'm almost 18. I have some short term memory loss, had it for some time before I started using computers other than my old C64 (which is useless for storing info, IMHO, but a hell of a toy =). The only bad things that have happened to me because of computers is that my eyesight isn't perfect anymore, and my wrists are sore a lot (from typing, that's all...).

And colonization of the sun is completely unfeasible. It's so boilingly hot!
But yes, start with the oceans, then the moon (it's time someone goes back there... are you listening NASA?), and then Mars. But not before understanding Mars and it's mysteries (See the post just above this one).
And after Mars, that opens us up to the asteroid belt, which supposedly is very mineral-rich. Mining operations, defense of the inner planets (in case we aren't alone), etc.

  13. Stop! on Planning For The Colonization Of Mars · · Score: 1

Before we start tampering with Mars to make it livable for us humans, we should first do a highly thorough (sp?) geological and biological review. Especially if there is or has been life there. There are many, many mysteries on Mars, and just terraforming the planet before we study these mysteries will most likely destroy them.
I would hold off terraforming for at least five years after first landing, to give time for the hands-on research of the planet. Otherwise, it will be like when the Spaniards came to North and Central America, destroying cultures before understanding them.
Heed my warning, people! There are things we should know about Mars before we change it to whatever we want.
