It seems that there's plenty of space for big antenna and a big battery if you have a normal set of headphones. However my Bose noiseless run for a full trans pacific flight before needing charging. That wouldn't be the case if they were running a bluetooth wireless as well. They would also suck donkey balls because the pairing mechanism would fail every 30 minutes and you would be asked to turn them off during take off and landing.
humans have inequality programmed into their DNA. that's why for example average strength of women is less than 2/3 that of men. that's why I can get a sunburn in less than third the time as someone whose ancestors are from some other places, so unfair I demand sunshine time equality!
Yes. This.
Peanuts taste like vomit. I demand flavour equity.
> No thank you. I've done enough of that. They're full of pissy little rules.
Are they as bad as Southwest, who will kick you off the plane for wearing a turban, speaking your native language, or wearing a tank top?
Hard to say. I don't wear a turban and you catch me dead in a tank top.
My experience of Southwest is mostly to take a quick jaunt to Vegas. So the lack of service doesn't impinge much.
For long hauls flights, on Canada Air, United, American Airlines, Iceland Air, China Southern, Delta, British Airways and Lufhansa, CS is winning hands down. Iceland comes second. Canada Air is at the bottom followed closely by BA.
Back in '03, it was quite a rough time for the site. There had been a lot of navel-gazing after the "Great Summer War": what are we here for? what is the site all about? Microsoft astro-turfing became the focal point because we needed a banner to rally around. Something to make people feel good inside. Nobody can say that they don't feel superior after reading that shit - and you have to remember that a lot of the people who come here don't have a lot else going on in their lives. They need that lift.
Prior to '03 we were preoccupied with performing a land grab on the low user ids.
Now people can take a look at their local community college options without being distracted by ITT ads.
Right, that's what kept people from applying to their local community college...
If the feds could arrange to move the the $580 billion to the community colleges to fund more technical programs, they might find they get value for money.
Don't confuse federal loan guarantees with actual money - that $580 Million (not Billion) is owed by the students to the lenders, not as grants from the federal government. In order for the local community colleges to get the $580 Million that previously went to ITT Tech the local community colleges would have to raise tuition to the level charged by ITT Tech.
In the case of my local college, it was oversubscribed and the technical programs were limited and oriented to licensed trades. However for first year college, they cover the same stuff as any other college for a fraction of the price and the results counted towards a degree in the state universities. So you if you played it right, you could get a serious discount on your education. This worked for 2 of 4 children, the other 2 went straight to uni. It also serves as a path to escape high school early. College is such a better learning environment than high school.
Hence - if the US government wants cost effective college teaching, fund the community colleges to do it. They have a track record and a customer base. The local colleges would not need to raise tuition at all. They are able to teach at a specific cost per student. There's no need for it to change because they take on a few more techy courses.
That's what the article is suggesting. The dog can't sniff for porn, but it can sniff for flash memory, and is being used to identify flash memory that may be concealed in non-obvious locations.
All the flash media in my house that I can't find is concealed in a non-obvious location, or I would have found it. However the most recent USB flash drive I purchased is probably bigger than the rest of them put together. I found a 32MByte one when I cleared out the garage a couple of weeks ago.

Granted, for most people, the 4 hour airport experience and 4.5 hour flight time is worth it because they don't enjoy driving enough to be a in car for 12 hours. They still see that as worse than the Airport/Airplane experience. Personally, I enjoy driving. Don't get me wrong, I like flying too. I've traveled internationally enough to have gotten good at it. But for destinations around 12 hours away by car, I would rather drive.
And yes, I've thought about this way too much... (grin)
I seem to do fine arriving 1 hour before the flight. So that's 30-45 minutes before boarding starts. 10 minutes through the pre-check line worst case, a few minutes to get a coffee and then start boarding.
Maybe it's my airport, but I don't think so. We've taken a 2 day drive in the past instead of flying, but that was a nice drive. The decision to fly is based on multiple criteria.. is my employer paying? What day of the week is it? What's the relative cost of having my own car at the other end - renting vs petrol costs, do I want to blow my weekend traveling, or take the late flight on Friday instead? Am I visiting a nice city that I'd like a day to see on the weekend?
It's not complicated, but it's more than just time in the airport vs. time on the road.
It still bothers me how many Americans still accept their government's version of 9/11. It acceptance around the world is no where near as high as it is in America.
WTF are you talking about? Nobody has given me this report. I didn't sign off on it. There is no consequence one way or the other to me choosing to accept or reject it, so why would I? Nobody is going to stand up and fix the TSA if I declare that I don't accept it.
Most people are not breathlessly interested in these things. We have lives to get on with.
I would love not having them around, however be aware that mosquitos are a staple for bats. You have to think about the food chain first before you just go blindly killing all of them.
Much like actual bat biology, I see what you did there...

But we only like bats because they kill mosquitos.
I'm submitting from one of these. The question I have is am I trading a 1 in 50,000 chance of fire for a 1 in 1 chamce of crappy charging and low battery life. If the problem was an aggressive charge cycle the resolution might well ne to wimpify it.
They said that only batteries from one of their two battery suppliers had problem, so I'm guessing the fix is to identify whether your battery is from that battery manufacturer or not. If not, it would come back as "no problem found", else they would replace it with a battery from the other supplier while trying to find a third supplier to ensure that there aren't supply problems later.
So just unclip the battery and take a look. Oh wait...
100nm Transistors? It'll work for displays, but for logic those transistors are huge and as far as I can tell, they don't get smaller. The tubes are 1nm diameter and you need enough in parallel for it to work. At leasts that's what the low information article implied.

A friend stuck an ammeter in line with his Alexa. It was drawing 4W continuous, night and day.
The cost is more that you paid for it.
... It must be in their heads.
The coriander? Or the dirt?
Or the peanuts.
There's a huge incentive to skip. No headphone jack.
Well yes. That has become apparent today.
Yes. This.
Peanuts taste like vomit. I demand flavour equity.
Wait, you mean there are people for whom peanuts taste good? Next you'll tell me there are people who don't think coriander tastes like dirt!
Coriander tastes fine to me. It must be in their heads.
Peanuts taste like vomit. I demand flavour equity.
have you only been eating regurgitated peanuts? are you a baby bird perhaps?
Nope. I can smell them a mile off. I am very thankful that the peanut allergy crowd is catered for so I can partake of peanut free food also.
This was predicted in the dilbert comics long back
http://dilbert.com/strip/2012-...
This was done in practice by Adam Osborne in 1982 and again in 1983 and is generally called "Doing an Osborne".
Being on the installment plan, I get a new one every year anyway. So do a lot of people. There's no incentive to skip.

If they keep puffing up then flattening out the icons they are going to lose their elasticity.

Point taken on it being loans though.

I think you might have cause and effect switched around there.
I don't think so. People get wealthy, they start having fewer children because they are wealthy and their priorities change.
This isn't controversial.
And fly British Airways.
No thank you. I've done enough of that. They're full of pissy little rules.
China Southern surprised me recently with how good they were.

Never do science with the blinders on.
Unfortunately, mosquitoes have no souls.
Neither do humans.
But lacking any humanity it does keep the population down.
Wealth does a lot more to keep the population down than mosquitos.
