Actually.. anything that can be done at the GUI level on a Windows server can be done via CLI tools. In fact, there is functionality available in CLI tools for Windows that is not available via the GUI. And yes, they are included with the Server OS, or can be found on the internet (even MS's website) for free. So.....

I think your assumption about CLI is false. But I can't prove it so...*shrug* As for the crappy MCSE assumption? Well, I can't aruge with that one.

It's interesting what can be done with the manipulation of data and definintions. Perhaps this survey would have been of more value had they included some of the other variations.. such as running Windows with Apache? That would have a huge impact on thier licensing and security costs.

I also have a difficult time believing that one windows sysadmin can only handle 10 machines, while a linux admin can handle 44 in comparison. Of course this could be a reflection of the quality of the MCSE's out there that are brought into the sysadmin fold. *shrug*

Either way... perhaps someone should do a study of a mixed environment? Find out the optimun TCO mix, not just the black & white versions of all one way or all another.

".. I have probably seen much more of the world than you have. "

Since the only country I've ever been to other than Canada is the US (Spokane), you're absolutely correct. But, that's completely irrelevant to any point made in my question.

"1) Movies must have a brave hero to be good.
    2) Because we're making a movie that's not about a brave hero, we as a Nation are somehow cowardly and decidedly unheroic"

    1) I didn't say that at all. But generally there are 3 basic plotlines. Man vs Man, Man vs Himself. This would appear to be Man vs Man, and generally in that plotline, there is a protagonist, and an antagonist. aka Hero vs Villian.

    2) You're reading way too far into this. Chill out.

I don't think America is unheroic at all. I think there are a lot of hero's in america (as in every nation). I'm just questioning the wisdom of adding hero status to a mediocre programmer who's only true accomplishment was being iconified by the media.

You may see it as logically unsound and a 2 minute jerk off session, but I suspect that you're seeing what you want to see.

So.. what's the huge deal about this? The kid didn't save any lives. He didn't revolutionize anything. He didn't improve the standard of living for anyone. He didn't create anything that had an impact on the majority of Americans. No.. he wrote some software that pissed off the wrong people.

What does it say about America when she has to find her hero's in the realm of corporate business? Perhaps she should take a look for her real hero's. Those people that actually affect the bottom line of all the people around them?
