If this software model involves "hundreds of millions of programmers" essentially producing whatever they want why have humans producing the "parts" and customizations at all? Would it be possible to have thousands of computers that are producing random "parts" of code and another group of thousands of computers taking those "parts" and combining them to have new customized "parts" and so forth until coding becomes only requesting this huge network of computers of a program with some functionality and letting it try to combine all of these "parts" of code until its requirements are met?
Kind of like the million monkeys writing for a million years except hopefully it doesn't take a million years.
Well all the registrations arnt frauds.
I see usa.info has been registered by pro-consul which looks to me like one of those places where you can get an "expert" to testity in court to get you off the hook for performing a henius act while in an "altered state of mind" or whatever.
Seems like some really useful information to me if you're in the US.
Has anyone ever tried running a spider bot like
this on their site with a big hard drive? Then you could say you have everything on your computer and that would be cool or something.
One big reason software developers can't spend time working on new features is that most programmers won't write code that is easily modifiable unless they know they will have to modify it themselves in the future (and even then a lot don't).
Using RAD tools that develop quick and dirty two tier applications with dbtext widgets work great when you develop the application the first time but when the schema or data source changes for the widgets you have to go and modify ALL the widgets in the application to use the new schema instead of modular components that take care of db access for all the widgets.
Ending this shortsighted two tier approach and instead creating multi tier robust applications the first time will go a huge way into increasing the productivity of the programmer in the long run where it matters instead of the productivity in the first cut which RAD tools focus on.
I'll take a good guess (maybe others can give more insight) in saying this is especially a problem in contract work where basically there is a lot of pressure to meet deadlines and who gives a f*ck how easy the code is to modify after the contract is finished.
I think its obvious that more programmers isn't going to solve the problem as you only wind up with graduates who can't even grasp the concept of creating modular multiple tier programs( you know the ones i'm talking about.) The best path is for the skilled programmers to lead by example with good programming practices, taking accountability and pride in your code and teaching others to do so also.
With the upcoming election what some people really would like to hear is a simpler way of exchanging long protein strings. That'll help avoid embarrasing situations of Gore and Bush walking down the street holding hands.
I've noticed netscape has done this since version 4 at least. The easy (and very likely in my mind) explaination is that both MS and Netscape want to handle the situation where the 3rd party site changes the URL of the site the bookmark points to. When this happens MS and Netscape simply change the redirect to point to the new location and viola! everyones default bookmarks still work. Otherwise the bookmark would now cause a 404 Error, which looks like shit( causing grumbles of "stupid microsoft, default bookmarks don't even work!") and is a pain in the ass for the site to handle. I mean who wants to have to release a new version of their software just because a 3rd party site changed their friggin URL.

Hey if u got the hot groupies waitin to hav gratuitous sex with ya in your hotel room afterwards too I definately gotta get me one of those:)
Ballmer learns a new word!!
I am only typing now to get around the postercomment compression filter. You can ignore this part.

I suggest reading the article located here which contains the more believable numbers
the industry says album sales in South Korea totaled $315 million in 2000, up from $292 million the previous year. .
