Just bought my first album. Recommend it for those who like techno with an edge. "Processor: Insomnia".

Audio Lunchbox looks good too, but their streaming is a bit broken (perhaps slashdotted) and I couldn't find much music I liked.

    Thanks for the heads up.

True; however I don't think "retard" is commonly used to mean someone with Down Syndrome. It's a bit like calling a spas^H^H^H^H I mean someone afflicted by cerebral palsy "a spastic". Or someone with African heritage "a black".

  13. Re:Ecco the Dolphin? on Can Games Address Serious Social Issues? · · Score: 1

Sounds like an interesting game. But you avoided my main question!

I don't see any point in "addressing ... issues" if it doesn't make people act differently in the "real" world. You're gaming strategies may change, but do your life strategies?

So, has your gaming experience changed your Big Blue Room attitude? Or perhaps, has it re-inforced your original attitude? No change?

If people used "that's so female" to diss products and people regularly, would that be ok? Ignore the feminist backlash -- would it be ok in terms of its effect on how people treat one another away from the spaces where they say that? I don't think so.

While it's less and less common, its not unkonwn around me for a man to be accused of womanly behaviour as an insult indicating cowardice or technical incompetence. But indeed, jovial accusations of homosexuality for identical reasons are more common; for instance, prior to implementing configuration changes in production without following the appropriate change management procedures: "What are ye, a poof?". Actually, sometimes it can be funny. No, I'm not a poof, but I have been called one and I know a few.

  15. Re:Gamers are Awful on On Gay Characters In Videogames · · Score: 1

What is a retard? I would guess it's an American term for a stupid person.

I'm in the UK; we don't say "retard", we say idiot, moron, fuckwit, imbecile, etc.

Anyway, the word "mongoloid" does indeed refer to racial characteristics of people from the far East - especially Mongolia.

The word "Mongol" means someone from Mongolia. Additionally, it has a politically incorrect meaning - someone with Down Syndrome. The cause of Down Syndrome is genetic. The syndrome's obvious manifestations are low intelligence and a distinctive appearance - similar in some ways to the appearance of real Mongols. Hence the link.

The link between the word gay and it's "bad" associations is completely disimilar to the link between the word "mongol" and it's "bad" associations. One is based on appearance. The other is based on prejudice.

  16. Re:700 hours of gameplay on On Gay Characters In Videogames · · Score: 1

Homosexuality may well be genetic. However, the word 'defect' implies a list of necessary attributes to be an acceptable human. What makes you think heterosexuality is a requirement for being an acceptable human?

Did you ever consider the possibility that homosexuality benefits society?

Even from a narrow minded selfish-gene perspective, homosexuality may bring things to humanity as a species that promotes the genes of the species. Perhaps we need childless people to devote their lives to works other than raising their children.

And escaping from that narrow minded perspective, perhaps homosexuality benefits us in other ways. Don't you think the arts are richer given the unique perspectives and styles homosexual people often bring?

I've given you the benefit of the doubt by presenting some reasoned counterpoints to your original post. If you've got this far and still maintain your original view, here's my verdict: bigotted moron.

Dunno, maybe his cp is statically linked. But my point is, if it was just glib, it could simply be reinstalled, no need to sweat.
